downundermatt Posted March 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2014 About to book with Celebrity direct for the first time from Australia, and it appears the gratuities are already included. On previous Celebrity Cruises I have always seen them added to my Seapass on a daily basis, when booking thru a US Travel Agency. Has something changed recently ? Just want to ensure I aint charged twice (just called Celebrity but they are closed til Monday Australian time)
Cruise_me_Crazy Posted March 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2014 Hmmmmm. No idea. We booked a TA with a local online agent. I assumed tips/ grats were to be added. Sorry Cannot help I imagine that most agents would be advertising the cheapest price though ;)
SFCAcruiser Posted March 8, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2014 By any chance did you choose Celebrity Select dining?
downundermatt Posted March 8, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted March 8, 2014 Thanks for your responses. No,didn't conclude the booking and select dining. The amount equates to about $13 a day so I assume its prepaid gratuities. Just never paid in advance previously.
Pean Posted March 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2014 We booked direct with Celebrity for our last cruise and our next one and they do add the gratuities as part of the booking. There is no need to worry, you will not be charged again. I actually prefer prepaying as the least shock at the end of a cruise with our sea pass card the better. gek Posted March 8, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 8, 2014 My understanding is that prepaid tips are the norm for Australian sailings because we can't be trusted to tip properly :)

happybos Posted March 8, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 8, 2014 Once your booking is confirmed you can removed the prepaid gratuities under My Celebrity. The online invoice is then adjusted to reflect the change. Sent from my iPad using Forums
VK3DQ Posted March 8, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 8, 2014 Hello Folks Here in Australia it is unlawful not to include all items on the invoice , they call gratuities an on board service charge regards John
