Cruising our of Miami/Planes leaves out of FLL

If you're leaving before the recommended time by Carnival, there are no guarantees. It could be tight. Under optimal circumstances (no traffic, able to speed up Hwy. 95), it takes about 40-45 minutes from the port to FLL. That's optimal--there have been a lot of times where I've seen accidents or problems that can slow 95 to a crawl (or completely stop traffic). Plus, remember that Carnival can't control when Customs releases the ship once in port. I've been on ships where they didn't start letting people go until almost 10. Ideally, they'll start letting people go around 8, but you never know.

Amy, I do not think you will have any problems.. if you carry your luggage off the ship yourselves.

We had a FLL flight at 2pm, but we made it to the airport by 11:30.... and we took our time getting off the ship.
