Things to do in Icy Strait Point Alaska other than Whale Watching???

Recommended Posts

I know that the world's largest zipline zipline is at Icy Strait Point. Six cables, side by side, 5,330 ft. long, 1,300 ft. vertical drop, 60 mph max speed, and 300 ft. highest point from the dround. A bus takes you up to the top for your scenic thrill ride! :)

I see that you also posted on the Alaska Ports of Call forum, that's a good place for discussion and info.

We were there in 2008.

DH and DD did the zip line. They loved it.

We also did a bear walk.

Go thru the old canning building. There is a small, museum quality display of how canning was done.

Also in the building are various shops. We found the prices there to be much lower than anywhere else.

When we arrived we were given a piece of cedar and a coin. The coin was a representation of the company money. The cedar chip was to be tossed into a friendship fire. The fire was attended by men elders of the community. They were available to answer any questions.
