Proposal on the ship or in port?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys and girls.

We're from Canada and will be on the Norweigan Jade (May 3rd - 10th) from Rome, through the Adriatic to Venice. We'll be flying into Paris, then stopping in 1 or 2 places on the way to Cinque Terre and finally to Rome for the cruise.

Where would you propose or where would you love your bf to propose to you at? I know timing is everything so I'll have to wait for the right feel and time but any ideas on where would be helpful! :-)

We only have an oceanview room so no balcony.

Thanks!

WOW! Venice would be AMAZING!!! then again Rome would also be romantic. I would not do it on the ship, you would want it to be special. Paris I think is a little overdone. Anyway I think she will love it! Congrats and Good Luck!

My Fiancé proposed to me in the dining room of the Fascination, he had the maitre D help him coordinate, so he got him a microphone and back up music lol it was quite spectacular. I think the top of the Eiffel Tower would be pretty amazing too!!!!

My Fiance proposed on the ship. We went to the spa for massages first then to a beautiful dinner on formal night and finally he proposed in the casino in front of a photographer while the band was playing love is in the air. It was amazing and I got photos of the exact moment it happened.

But some of those ports you will visit are just incredible. She will love it!

So exciting... and that trip sounds amazing! I think it may not be a bad idea to just be prepared and go for it whenever the mood feels right. No matter where you do it or the scenario, it will be memorable. But, I'm not a big fan of the huge grand gestures for proposals... and the more planning you put into it or more elements involved, leaves more chance for things to go wrong.

My fiancée proposed while at Disney World with my parents there. He had hoped to do it at night, in front of the castle, with fireworks overhead, although he planned to do it earlier if the moment seemed right. That place was so overcrowded (apparently day after Christmas is their busiest day of the year) that we were miserable most of the day. Even when we got to the fireworks, people were so close and crowding us that my fiancée almost got into a fight because some guy kept hitting me in the head. So, that of course ruined that moment. He ended up proposing in the parking lot as we were waiting for bus back to our hotel. He was disappointed that he didn't get the proposal he had imagined, but I think it was still amazing. We had a great laugh about it and it made my memory of that miserable day at "the happiest place on earth" a lot happier. So, I don't think you need to stress over where to do it or when... just do it. I'm sure you will come across many opportunities that will be perfect.

lol Sorry to hear about the botched proposal at Disney World. Great story to tell though!

Yes, top of the Eiffel Tower at night would be great.. as long as there's not many people up there and we're not exhausted from a long day of sight-seeing.

Venice would be one of the best spots probably but that's at the end of our trip..it would be nice to propose soon into the trip at the beginning so this can be like an engagement vacation of sorts. ;-) If I want that, it would have to be Paris, Turin, Cinque Terre or Rome.

We'll be in Rome on one of the busiest days of the year (May 1st) with hundreds of thousands of Italians flocking there for their May celebration/holiday. I'm thinking Rome will be a bit stressing and highly crowded.

Would people just roll their eyes if one of us says that I proposed in Paris? lol Is it way too overdone and cliche?

Cinque Terre looks like an absolutely gorgeous (still off the beaten track) coastal village(s). Hmm.. still thinking
