People who have taken the "free" cruise, have you received days sailed?

Thanks for the info. I would like to know also, but the free cruise mom booked was free (just had to pay taxes and fees), but we upgraded her to a Spa BL, so she's paying for the room, just at a deeply, deeply, deeply discounted rate of $80 not including the taxes and fees.

What "guidelines do you have to meet in order to get offered a "free" cruise?

Ill make this quick because all the threads regarding this have been deleted.

It was random.

Diamond, platinum, gold, whatever. There was no criteria.

Many of us who lucked out have been the subject of harsh verbal attacks from some other cruisers who feel we were less than deserving.

I have been off of CC for a little while so I missed the whole free cruise bandwagon.

Congrats to those that got them. I have no idea why anybody would attack somebody for getting a great deal. Good for you guys that got them!!!

The "rules" say that only "revenue cruises" count......

but we all know that Carnival is about as consistent as flour blowing in the wind....

so it could go either way!

Correct. So with a true free cruise (accepting the inside without an upgrade), one should not get the days added to their account. With an upgrade, it most likely would get added because you paid some sort of fare.

Thank you. For the info. We upgraded to an obstructed balcony. I hope we get days sailed as I would love to go gold and get to go to the cocktail party! If not I'm not complaining! I just appreciate that I was part of the random people to be given this opportunity!

I won a 7 day cruise back in 2006 and recently tried to have them post those days to my VIFP account and was told no because it was not a "revenue" cruise to which I responded. While I did not pay for the cruise there was indeed revenue earned by you from me. I bought photos, drinks, went to the casino like a madwoman. Still they said no. I'm going to keep emailing them. A lot.

I was wondering if you are getting "days sailed" towards your next status upgrade on your free cruise. I would turn gold this next time if you do!

Yes. However, the days don't appear online until after the cruise. I am 3 days from gold and the Customer Service Rep assured me that my card will be gold on my upcoming cruise. Congrats!

That's the answer. Bug them enough until they get tired of hearing from you and give you what you want. Yea, that's the type of attitude I think I want my kids to learn.

I have read people comments and I don't feel anyone was attacked for receiving a free cruise. For what I have read some have voiced disappointment with the Carnival's process from issuing free cabins. Many members have been longtime supporters of the cruise line, despite their public downfalls and have never received such offer. I feel some points are valid . I talked my family into cruising on Carnival in 2010 with over 30 family members. Many were first time cruisers and hasn't sailed since. I have sailed Carnival 3 times since the 2010 sailing (Elation, Legend, Paradise) and 9 times prior to the 2010 cruise. Actually 11 because I still haven't received credit for my sailings on the Mardi Gras or Tropicale in 1992. Also I am currently booked on the Carnival Freedom for this Sept. Two of my family members were awarded free cabins after sailing in 2010. I hop on Carnival from time to time but My loyal is with NCL and Royal Caribbean. I'm a diamond member and their loyalty program is outstanding !!!!!
