In Consideration Of Your Fellow Passengers...

I guess we can agree on the seat-saving -- apply common sense, good judgement and courtesy... and realize that despite this, there's always gonna be someone who's gonna get ticked off about something.

:o

its real simple.... (Then i hope we can end this silly banter about this topic)

here are your options-

1.) You get there before your..."party" and hold seats for them.

2.) You wait for them to finish their pie and then you arrive WITH them and sit 14 rows back. You them complain to THEM that they made you late.

The answer (without debate) is #2.

Any other option is plain rude.

No human being should have to be punished (not getting a good seat) due to someone elses selfish rude lazy behavior. Period.

Yes, but did you know if you press your floor button and the close door button simultaneously, you will not stop on any other floor except your call floor?

AKA EXPRESS:eek:

pretty selfish huh?

do you also have a shirt that reads (on the back)...

"raise the gang plank...I'm Aboard"?

What if the elevator doesn't have a "close door" button?

Well then.....Jam the door shut with a blunt object so that it will open for you to get out and screw everyone else that comes after! what else??

(none of this surpirses me frankly)

I got one for ya...

When you go to the change machine in the casino,

Put in a dollar, when 4 quarters come out, pump your fist feverishly

and inform the person behind you that you won....3rd time today!

And, the most important consideration----just because they make it in your size doesn't mean you should wear it!

Everything else on this thread is subjective, in my opinion. This one should be Gospel as far as I'm concerned!

And before anyone gets offended, the rule applies to me as well! :p

I can't believe that I would be expected to inform my table mates of my dining itinerary. Frankly, it's none of their business. What's more, if I can't see fit to arrive on time to dinner than I have no business expecting anyone to wait for me. This isn't Thanksgiving dinner at Aunt Ethel's house....it's dinner on a cruise ship with people you don't know. I just can't understand why this would ever be an issue of etiquette.

For that matter, I don't know that I would even inform my waiter. Same reasons as above. Don't wait for me. If I get there in time, then I want to be served accordingly. If I don't, shame on me. I'm not going to sweat it, so no one else should either.

I agree. I don't tell my tablemates what my plans are for the next evening and I don't expect them to tell me. And in fact, on all cruises I've been on, service was not held up waiting for someone who didn't show up. The waiters went ahead as usual and I would expect that. If I can't get to the table in time, I certainly wouldn't expect everyone to be delayed. Seems like it would make everything a lot easier if this was how it was done for everyone.

It's a simple matter of courtesy to advise your tablemates and waitstaff it you will not be in the dining room on a particular night. What's so hard to understand about that? Not every waiter on every ship is going to start taking orders when all of his passengers haven't arrived at the table. Please be courteous!

If your pushing or wheeling these or the obnoxious little scooters......1.Please don't run over my toes and look around like you didn't know what that little bump was. 2. Act like you can see nothing and everyone must move because "you" are coming through.:D

I agree with all of these!

We just got off the Conquest Sunday and some peoples manners are amazing..some examples:

1. The first day my 15yr DS and I got on the elevator and a man was smoking!!

It was enough to gag you...I think I would rather someone pass gas

2. If the person next to you on a lounge chair is not smoking..please don't sit down next to them and light up w/o asking first if they mind...there are plenty of empty deck chairs...be a courteous smoker

3. Pls wait for everyone to get out of the elevator before you barge in...I almost got into an arguement with a lady over this

4. I understand people having family vacations....I brought my teen along with me...however, these teens/kids who run up and down the hall screaming at all hours of the night was about to make me CRAZY!! I ended up having to call security!

5. The people in the room next to mine who let their 3 yr old start blowing whistles at 6:30 every morning...thanks alot..pls let me know when your next vacation is so i will NOT be anywhere near you!!

6. the saving chairs in the show lounge...this lady sat in about the 5th row..with her arms out like an airplane for about 20 min "waiting" for the rest of her party...by the time the show started only 2 members had shown up..RUDE

I was on the Conquest for my honeymoon last year and it was the same way. There were people putting cigarettes out in the carpet, butts lying everywhere. There were dishes and cups all over the place. Fights every night, security about knocked us down several times to get to a fight. One girl told the guy at the hamburger place to "take this back and melt that cheese, this aint Wendys". Kids spitting in ketchup... The list goes on and on. People forget their manners when they go on vacation!!

Kids spitting in ketchup...

YUCK! MY FRENCH FRIES WILL NEVER TAYSTE THE SAME.

Which is why we ate in the dining room for almost every meal..breakfast, etc

I just can't seem to get past the no shirt, sweaty, hairy guy picking around at the food in front of me in line:eek:

Okay, ED... Obviously you can't take a joke and don't know when people are just being "SILLY". That stuff you quoted was all in jest and good fun. Get over yourself!

Michelle- one side of the Lido dek is smoking- the other non smoking--port is non smoking---
So if someone is on the port side- ther should be no lighting up!
On the flip side- if you are a non smoker- dont sit on the smoking side.

I understand that...but, people do not adhere to those policies...I actually was on deck 3 in some lounge chairs they have...not on the Lido deck...I quit smoking in March...I was a "courteous" smoker...I would have NEVER just plopped myself down between 2 people and started smoking. It's rude. People smoke all over the ship in non smoking areas...they never say anything to them.
But the reference was specifically to saving seats for the rest of your family/party. I can understand not saving seats indefinitely for friends you 'think' 'might' be along at some point, but saving seats for the rest of your family while they're still finishing dessert in the dining room just doesn't strike me as unreasonable is all. Regardless, clearly some people will get irked by it.
Leo, I do consider that unfair. See, if my wife and I want decent seats, we'll rush through dinner or skip dessert to make sure we have a chance at getting them. I don't think saving more than one seat is considerate.

I felt a little sorry for a young teenager in a rapidly-filling showwho was tryiing to save 7 prime seats for his family , because his uncle told him to. I said I was sorry, but saving seats wasn't permitted and I'd be happy to speak to his uncle about it, and suggested the family arrive earlier next time. I managed to survive the evil glare I later received from his uncle.

Oops, sorry for the above Leo, I responded before I had read further. Didn't mean to rehash.

Oh, and I don't get get ticked off at this stuff. But I AM probably gonna end up sitting right in the midst of your family, so I hope they don't mind when they show up.
