Once you hit the amount are drinks free for the rest of the cruise?

When I called about our upcoming cruise, Michael told me that as soon as you lose $250 to them, you will get the drinks on us card for the rest of your cruise. It is only for you and only while in the casino

1500 points on a 7 day cruise. Once you reach that, a casino host will find you in the casino and attach the card to your Sail & Sign card. You get the drinks from the casino wait staff, and the benefit is only good while you are playing in the casino. You will have to tip the wait staff because the auto tip does not show on the zero receipt that you sign for each drink. You can either tip cash which that server will get to keep, or you can add it to the zero receipt you sign which then gets divided among all servers like the auto-tips.

Good luck!

On a 7 day cruise you have to get to 1500 points. Each point is based on $2.50 "coin in" meaning that a point is the combination of the money you put in the machine and the credits that you've won and played back into the machine.

I've pretty much stopped chasing the points. It takes FOREVER to get waited on in the Casino (and yes I cash tip with every drink). The barwaiters wait until they have multiple drink orders before they go to retrieve them.

It can easily take 30+ minutes from the time you order until you are finally brought your drink. I rarely sit at a machine for that long, but I do try to stay in the general vicinity.

Michael is wrong.

I spend about $1000 per week in the casino and sometimes I haven't earned that 1500 points until the last day at sea after I've already spent at least $800.........Sometimes I'm at 1500 points by the evening of day 2.......

It really does depend on how well the machines are paying off and how much of that payoff you are putting back into the machine.

Also, someone mentioned that the casino host would come get you to give your ON US card when you've earned it. And I'm sure they eventually would, but I just go to the cashiers cage and get it myself.

Yes, but it only applies while you are playing in the casino.

1500 points, 1 point is $2.50 coin in (wagered) for slots, $5.00 coin in for video poker. For table games, it is up to the discretion of the casino manager. They are looking for $15-$25 per hand/outcome for 3-4 hours per day, on average.

I think in this case you were given wrong information. Myself (and others I have gambled with) have lost a lot more than this and the casino manager and/or pit bosses have not even farted in my direction. I've lost $500 in craps in a couple hours one night and received nothing more than a "have a nice night".

You must have had poor wait service once I got mine on the 3rd day I think I would let the waiter know to go ahead and bring another one in 15 mins which is the minimum time you have to wait before drinks so there were times I would have 2-3 drinks sitting at the table.

Play wise during the day since there were no 25 dollar tables open I would have to play at the 5 or 10 dollar tables and would bet no more than 10-15 just because the other people at the table would not play how I liked which is their choice I just would not risk a lot of money but at night I would play 25-50 a hand and it took me 3 days.

And a tip if your tipping the dealers well and friendly they won't mind if the wife comes by and takes a free drink off your hands. Haha

Agreed, I'd say a safe bet is at least $1200 and you will be hovering around the 1500 points you need for your drinks.

I got mine on our last cruise and I never spent anywhere near that amount. I budgeted $100 per day and got it on the seventh day. In reality, I should have just not gambled and bought my own drinks. I'd be a lot further ahead. :o

I play tables and got mine the second day. Before I got the card the pitboss was buying my drinks. BUT I always make a side bet for the dealers EVERY hand. Believe me the pit boss notices that

That has always been my experience as well, whether paying, or using the Drinks on Us card. Once I receive my first drink, I never have to wait or look around for the waiters - seems like they are at my elbow when I want them.

I guess YMMV, but it has been that way on every Carnival cruise we've taken.

No doubles, no shots, no sharing...15 minutes between drinks.

While you could get it after losing $250 (if you keep winning and putting it back in), it doesn't go by a dollar amount. It's based on points. I usually get it around day 5 and my gambling budget is $50/day. I do put everything I win back in. I play cheap so I can play longer (drives my DH crazy but I do play longer on mine than he does LOL).

My understanding of all comps in every casino it is based upon the amount of time played and the size of your wager. Obviously someone playing $500.00 blackjack doesn't have to play as long as someone playing $25.00 Blackjack for same amount of comps. It supposedly has nothing to do with how much you win or lose.

I will say it makes more sense for the casino to comp you if you are winning because they want to do everything they can do to keep you coming to their property.

You also have to consider it's not just what you spend, it includes money you win and play back as well.

I only play slots.........and certainly on very RARE occasions I have had the bar waiters be very attentive.......though usually really late at night.......but for the most part it's taking 20 to 30+ minutes to get a drink.......that's unacceptable in my book.........I cash tip well.....

It really does not matter to the casino whether you are a winner or loser, only how much you wager, and for how long. This is the case with comps at any casino, land based or cruise line. The reason is mathematical. The longer you play, and the more you wager, the more likely it is you will contribute to the casino's bottom line. There is no game that you can play that does not have a house advantage. Said advantage will eventually get all of us.

The reason you tend to see more comps given to winners is because of the money wagered/time spent betting issue. The more one wins, the more one is likely to bet, increasing the amount of play.

On more than one occasion, in casinos all over the world at Blackjack tables, I have just stopped playing and waited for my drink to show up. The dealer will ask, are you in, and I will reply when I get a fresh drink I will be ready to play.

Not that I am a big gambler, usually 1k a day, but at that rate I should be able to get a doggone drink when I want one.
