mastershakess Posted March 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2014 We're going May 25-30, 2014. We've never been on a Carnival cruise before, just 3 Royal Caribbean (small boats). Cruise leaves out of Port Canaveral and the flights are booked already. We are arriving a day early and staying at the Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral the night before the cruise. Just had a few questions: -We have stateroom 1540 6B OCEANVIEW, is that going to be nice and convenient? -Still can't figure out the transportation arrangement from MCO to Hotel the night before and after cruise, any suggestions? -Any tips for navigating the boat? Any places we have to go? (2 adults aged 27 and 29) Anything else we should know? I'm new to this whole thing, thank you.
Dazzies Posted March 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2014 We will be on that cruise, too! And we will be on the same deck with an ocean view! It's our first Carnival experience so I will be interested to read responses. Sent from my iPad using Forums
cacroozr Posted March 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2014 We're on the Sunshine in July. This is our first cruise too. We're renting a car from MCO. There's four of us and it truly was the most economical way to get to Port Canaveral. We pick up the car at MCO, drive to Port Canaveral, drop of the car at the rental agency the next morning and they have a shuttle to the port. And then we just reverse it on the way back. It also gives us lots of freedom to explore a bit on our own.
cdamion Posted March 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2014 The only question I have re Sunshine is Why? Just kidding. Have a great cruise. I personally like the Riviera Deck. You have passenger cabins above you, so it should be quiet. You are midship, so you wont hear any anchor/bowthruster noise, so it should be a good, quiet location and you are right near the middle set of elevators. The Sunshine is the most crowded ship in a cruise line full of crowded ships, but it has some nice features and plenty of people really enjoy it. Just avoid the most popular times for buffets and stuff. Also, when people say anything negative about Carnival or the cruise, just ignore them and have your own fun experience. You are on a cruise and it is all about having fun - and Carnival will do that for you, they have amazing crews. Enjoy and congrats on winning the cruise!!! morganboys Posted March 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) The only question I have re Sunshine is Why? that would be my question as well. The ship that was over crowded and people disliked greatly was chopped and two decks added to add more cabins and make it more crowded. There is a reason why the Destiny/Sunshine was the only Destiny class ship! Edited March 24, 2014 by morganboys
cruizinisthebest Posted March 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 25, 2014 There are plenty of people who enjoyed their cruises on the Sunshine. Even those who paid for it. I think the opportunity to cruise having only to pay taxes and port charges makes any ship choice a good one. Enjoy your trip and do come back and let us know your own thoughts once you've experienced it for yourself!

We went in November and was not anymore crowded than any other Carnival cruise we've been on. OP please disregard comments like this and enjoy your vacation. The Sunshine is a beautiful ship. You'll love her. :)

I know they do this as we have been there when the shuttle came in from the airport. They also have a very good shuttle service to the port & back. Enjoy you cruise !!!!!! We will be on a B2B next OCT. NOV. on her.
mastershakess Posted March 25, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted March 25, 2014 We picked the Sunshine because it fit our schedule and I wanted to leave out of Florida and not Baltimore. I can't complain, it's free (after taxes and ports). I'm looking forward to water park, casino, burger joint, adult only pool and outdoor shows/movies. I love Key West and hate Nassau . . I'll probably stay on ship for Nassau. I've never been to Freeport, any suggestions?
