in 2015 we want to cruise tour Alaska with 3 kids . we are grand pa ,grandma, and their mother. kids will be 3,6,&9 at time of cruise. We are looking at Norwegian and Holland American lines. Both seem to offer good kid programs. which line offer better kids programs, offer a bigger room ? looking at 1 inside and 1 outside near each other.

If you are planning to do a land tour and cruise, I say stick with the cruise and skip the land tour. The days are long and structured and Take all the relaxation away. I've done ncl in Alaska but prefer celebrity or princess. Ncl cabins are small. The youth program on ncl is more fun than holland. Holland attracts older people and there are fewer on board activities and it's a bit dull. Ncl has great shows. Whatever you decide the kids will enjoy the cruise

We chose HAL for our multi-generation cruise. We got two adjoining SY suites that each hold 3 people. We may or may not actually make grandma and grandpa bunk with one of the kids..we'll see. :)

We decided to skip the land tour to Denali. The long transfer times just would bore my children. We are spending two nights in Seward instead then taking the train back to Anchorage.

Agree the kids are a bit young for the land tour.

We did an Alaskan cruise, but then created our own "tour" to Denali and other places. Worked much better this way as we could go at a pace that fit our child's schedule. It didn't even cost more.

You should look into renting an RV and then mapping out where you want to go. Also it tends to be more relaxing to do the tour first and then the cruise.

Enjoy!

That's pretty much what we also did as well after deciding against one of the land tours. We rented a car in Anchorage, drove the stunning road to Seward, and then stayed in a lodge cabin for a few nights to explore before our cruise. One of our favorite vacations ever.

Best,

Mia
