llam Posted March 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2014 We are not big gamblers but have a $150 on board credit from Norwegian for a one day cruise. Thinking of trying my hand in the casino. Two questions: 1) can I use, the OBC, to gamble? 2) when I win......or not, can I somehow get the credit in cash. If so how?
Ilovesailing Posted March 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) I don't think the OBC is tracked in casino but if is and your playing slots and hit something push the "cash out" button and it will print out a slip of your winnings only and keep doing that till you burn through obc. They will be able to tell you at reception or casino wicket. Edited March 27, 2014 by Ilovesailing
Alliezona09 Posted March 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2014 I don't think you are able to use the OBC in the casino~
Love my butler Posted March 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2014 Very simple for both refundable and non-refundable OBC. Go to casino cashiers cage, say you want $ x charged to your account. You will sign some forms, they will hand you cash, and charge your room account for the cash plus a 3% fee. Minimum charge is $100.

acharris1 Posted March 27, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2014 And you are sure this casino charge will count towards the OBC in your account? I would like to know the answer to this too, as we were buying onboard credit certificates that we were planning on gambling with...
VideoTech Posted March 27, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 27, 2014 And you are sure this casino charge will count towards the OBC in your account? The cash you get in the casino cage will show as a charge against your ship account (along with the 3% service fee). When you receive your final bill, it will still show as a charge, but your total bill will be reduced by the amount of your OBC.
swedish weave Posted March 27, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 27, 2014 Be sure to check if your OBC is refundable or non-refundable. I had some OBC on the Getaway and received a letter saying the non-refundable OBC could not be used for DSC or casino.
acharris1 Posted March 27, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 27, 2014 It'll be on onboard credit certificate purchased on the ncl.com site. I'm not sure how to tell if that's refundable or non-refundable.

There is no advantage to buying in advance. Why not just wait and use the cash when you get there?
triptolemus Posted March 27, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 27, 2014 And you are sure this casino charge will count towards the OBC in your account? I assure you they will. Much to my wife's dismay. It'll be on onboard credit certificate purchased on the ncl.com site. I'm not sure how to tell if that's refundable or non-refundable. Purchased OBC is refundable, as is most travel agent OBC. Promotional OBC (received from NCL) is not refundable. There is no advantage to buying in advance. Why not just wait and use the cash when you get there? Could be a gift purchased by others... acharris1 Posted March 28, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 28, 2014 Refundable yes, non-refundable no. Also check the the threads in the casino discussion for other slot offers and discounts. Thanks! Where is the casino discussion?

garycarla Posted March 28, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 28, 2014 If you have an obc from a gift or something, use it for drinks, meals, gift shop, tours, photos and MAYBE the DSC. Casino would be the last place to use it. Again, this assumes there is some good reason to give NCL your money before you have to.

Its not like they match up specific purchases to a particular OBC. It all just nest out at the end. If you have $300 OBC and you spend a total of $500 on the ship no matter where, you owe $200. (Issues of refundable/nonrefundable not withstanding.)
Sika Dellick Posted March 28, 2014 #19 Share Posted March 28, 2014 Why email? What are the tips? Slot play coupons? Captain Obvius sez...yes! Was actually going to give him some of the pointers on how to play various games 'by the book'. I didn't want to do it here because I have seen that topic turn into one of the battle royal topic here and wanted to not deal with that. Lord knows that between smoking, tipping, and all the other 'topics from hell' we didn't need yet another. :) I was getting the impression (maybe mistakenly) that the OP was a relatively new casino player and wanted to provide the info as such. Apologies if I offended you or anyone else. I have slapped my own wrist as punishment.
Sika Dellick Posted March 28, 2014 #20 Share Posted March 28, 2014 Captain Obvius BTW I love that term Capt. Obvious! Makes me laugh every time I see it. Kind fo also makes me think of John Madden and his football announcing! :)

However......I'm not sure about OBC that you can purchas before your cruise cruise to keep on your account. Harriet

These, I believe can be used in the Casino. Harriet
