Dali Museum outside Barcelona

We are on a cruise which stops in Barcelona for two days in late October. One of our dreams is to visit the Salvador Dali Museum which is outside Barcelona.

 

Has anyone visited the museum before? Could you tell us how long of a drive it is from the port area? And, even more importantly, how did you get there ...

 

If anyone has some driver/guide recommendations, we are all ears!

You want to go to Figueres and it is between 2 hrs and 2 1/2 hrs by train. Spanish trails does a combined Figueres/ Girona tour and barcelona Day Tours ( I think that is the name) does tours there. Barcelona Day Tours may have a 1/2 day tour there. I would contact them about a private tour.
