Kreative03 Posted March 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2014 Spa, Fitness Center and Salon are all closed today...first day of 3/29 sailing. "We need a little time to complete the finishing touches. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we're sure you'll find it's worth the wait. Today the Spa, Fitness Center, and Salon will be closed" Will update if anything changes :)
Erinchita Posted March 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2014 Well, that's disappointing. Are they allowing you to schedule appointments for the rest of the cruise? I'm on the Silhouette a week from today and it's supposedly the first Canyon Ranch sailing for that ship. Curious to hear anything else you learn - we are definitely looking to enjoy the spa! Kreative03 Posted March 29, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 29, 2014 @erinchita - it is completely shut down...no staff, no bookings. No true ETA. The fitness center is closed as well. Just took the attached photos...hoping at least the fitness will re-open tomorrow, or the already crowded track will be slammed
Hootpatoot Posted March 30, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2014 Holy Cow! Please keep us posted...we are on the next Reflection sailing, April 5. I could probably live without the Spa but the gym???:mad: Thanks in advance!
travelpeon Posted March 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 30, 2014 Wow. If I were in a Aqua class stateroom, I'd be a bit sad that I can't use the spa as promised. I guess it is kind of like missing a port of call in that there are no refunds for missed services? OTOH, it is nice that they're putting their own touches on things based on the pic of the spa waiting area filled with stuff. I think that shows promise of certain standards and ways they want do things other than just swapping out the retail spa product display.
Erinchita Posted March 31, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 31, 2014 Not going to lie...I'm going to be FURIOUS if the fitness center is closed for any portion of my sailing...
Andy Posted March 31, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 31, 2014 (edited) Sorry to say it, but that's very poor planning on both Celebrity's & Canyon Ranch's part. They should have figured out a way to make the transition with minimal disruption. A day or two of disruption ? Then give passengers a big discount for a couple of days for the inconvenience - would be a very nice gesture. Beyond that, it's inexcusable. In full disclosure, I have no interest in the spa, but I totally care about guests who do enjoy the spa, having an enjoyable onboard experience ! Kreative03 Posted April 1, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted April 1, 2014 Salon and Fitness Center opened on day 2, albeit my father had to call to get it unlocked at the posted time. There was a grand opening for the whole Spa on day 3 that was attended by senior officers. The price lists are laminated and only available from the spa check-in, and no attempt has been made to truly sell services (at a discount or otherwise). The upgrades in decor seem in keeping with Canyon Ranch, and their merch is already stocked and ready to go. I wish them success...but I think they really needed a 24hr turnaround plan + staffing to be ready for services no later than the first full day (day 2)
