beberenn Posted April 5, 2014 #26 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Question for anyone who received the email regarding Freeport being swapped for Charleston...was it specific to your cruise date or any info on that email for future Pride cruises having issues? Thanks! It's for the April 6 sailing Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
hrmkr Posted April 5, 2014 #27 Share Posted April 5, 2014 I have to disagree with Freeport not being a good port. We were just there a few days ago and went on an incredible excursion with Pat & Diane's tours. It was a great time snorkeling and then going to a private beach. We enjoyed shopping at the straw market at the Port Lucaya marina. Picked up some nice souvenirs for a good price.
Sebship Posted April 5, 2014 #28 Share Posted April 5, 2014 The issue could be related to the complete, full ship power failure that we experienced on Monday March 24th that lasted almost 2 hours. Yes, no power: no lights, no cooking, the ship moving backwards due to the ocean currents, no casino, no shops (on a sea day), no nothing. Luckily my 8-year-old took it in stride. I can also state that our trip back to Baltimore was rocky! They lost trays of coffee cups as well as food in the buffet (those were some loud crashes) and they closed all of the main pools, as the water was sloshing pretty badly. So, it might be that they are worried that pushing the ship too hard in trying to get from Freeport to Baltimore in that shorter time is too much and that they are better off either skipping Freeport and moving further north on Friday or having Charleston as a more northerly port on Friday. Overall we had a good cruise, but the power outage and the rocking made it a more interesting cruise than normal! Sebship

PaulMedik Posted April 5, 2014 #35 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Seems some here don't know the beauty serets of Freeport. Pine Bluff, Freeport has changed from bland industrial appearance to quite a few vendors and places to eat at the port, but the beautiful beaches haven't changed; 20 minutes from the ship are WOLRD CLASS beaches. I guess they are 'secrets,' but I'm OK with many people not crowding the beaches; leaves more room for me! :p I was hoping to get pics of Carnival Freedom while drydocked in Freeport, but I think she would have been refloated and out of there by our day anyhow. The way they kept changing her refurb time frame it was hard to keep up.... Pride's stop in Freeport was ~0700 to back on board at 1230 which is waaaay early for a final stop IMO. We had beach plans in Freeport and were looking forward to them, but staying on the ship will be fun too. It will also free up some ca$h for casino donations if it's tight earlier in the week....
