erin327 Posted April 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2014 I read that the ice skates that are available for use on the Freedom of the Seas start at a kids size 2. Does anyone know if that is correct or are there skates available for smaller kids? Could we bring our own?
boulders Posted April 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2014 That size sounds right. You can definitely bring your own too. The last time I took my kids, the skates they had available were hard shell, not very comfortable at all.
UCF_Knight Posted April 9, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2014 They had skates to fit my then 4 year old on Freedom in 2012. She was in a toddler 10 shoe size at that point.
mollyeilis Posted April 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2014 There were 2 year old twins, on the smaller side, skating on Freedom in January. So I'm pretty sure they have little shoes (and I am 100% sure that they hadn't brought their own skates).
LovesCruising Posted April 10, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2014 My grandson was about 4 when he skated on the Explorer and he did not bring his own skates.

Nikmav Posted April 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2014 This thread is timely. I just had an argument with my 6 y/o son about skates last night. He plays hockey and wants to bring his own skates. I told them we didn't need to especially for the possible one occasion that he will skate. He's still not happy though. A hockey boy and his skates! bala1130 Posted April 10, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2014 You're also required to wear blue jeans or long pants to skate.

mikechass Posted April 10, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2014 Nikmav Both my kids play hockey ( my son's team just won our city finals YEAH) They both said the skates were hard and uncomfortable and that the ice was TERRIBLE... haha, us Canadian's know our ice that's for sure. Regardless, it was a wonderful experience and they both helps so many other kids learn to get up from falling and what not. They loved it and still say it was one of their favourite stories to tell people. The love the fact that they got to ice skate in the middle of the ocean! So have fun and tell your son, he has two Canadian kids who understand EXACTLY what he's going through!! Chass

We are in NC so not a lot of ice around here but we are lucky to have a sheet in our town. Pretty decent teams too.
