TeeVeeTD Posted April 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2014 My DD16 and I just returned from our Western Caribbean Fantasy cruise. We scuba dove in GC and planed on diving both Costa Maya and Cozumel. Unfortunately, we were not able to dive CM or Cozumel. Disney used RedSail Sports in GC and they were great. We heard from other divers on the ship that they were not happy with the dive operator in Cozumel. When I discovered that DCL was using Sand Dollar Sports, I admit I was less than thrilled as I have read many poor reviews concerning them. Because I did not dive them myself, I am not in position to complain to DCL about them. But, if any others have used them and were not happy with the experience, please make DCL aware of it. Disney runs too good of an operation to have their vendors not do a great job and they need to be aware of them. Also if anyone has had a good experience with Sand Dollar please let me know. Maybe the reviews have been biased. Thanks for listening to me. Tim

TeeVeeTD Posted April 17, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted April 17, 2014 We did not dive in Costa Maya as we were feeling a little under the weather. I did not talk to anyone that did sorry. Disney was using DreamTime resorts for the operator in Costa Maya. Check to see if there are any reviews on other web sites. One that I would check would be Scuba.com. I do not have notes in my research for DreamTime Resorts. Enjoy your cruise.
mdchachi Posted February 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) It's late but I want to put my experience somewhere for posterity. We rode Disney Fantasy 2/2015 and because I wanted to be sure that everything went smoothly, I booked scuba via DCL for St Maarten. This was my first (and so far only) excursion ever booked via a cruise line. The day before the port call I was informed that my scuba was canceled. No reason was given. Weather was fine. I assume the operator had their reason, maybe not enough divers from the ship or they had some other group that took precedence. DCL guest services refused to do anything for me, like find another operator or even provide me a list of operators. I was able to argue enough to get some free wifi so I could try to locate my own provider last minute but it didn't work out and I didn't get any dives in. I meant to list their name publicly here but I forgot the name of the provider. So lesson learned for me is that I won't be booking scuba via a cruise line again.
