IPlayWithString Posted April 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2014 And where you're cruising out of may determine what constitutes "formal". When we took the Fascination out of Jacksonville, 'dress' jeans weren't considered formal wear although they TOTALLY were when we sailed on the Triumph out of Galveston. Because here at home, jeans can TOTALLY be formal wear.:D They're usually a dark wash and starched so much they can stand up all by themselves, sometimes with a sharp crease on the leg. poison7fl Posted April 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2014 (edited) Yes, but Formal nights are gone. They are now called "Cruise Elegant" night. From Cruise Critic; The Code: Carnival's evening dress code is typically “cruise casual,” but one or two nights during the voyage, “cruise elegant” eveningwear is suggested. On "cruise casual" nights, the line recommends sport slacks, khakis, jeans (no cut-offs), long dress shorts and collared sport shirts for men, and casual dresses, casual skirts or pants and blouses, summer dresses, capri pants, dress shorts and jeans (no cut-offs) for women. Cruise elegant dress means dress slacks, dress shirts and sport coat (suggested not required) for men and cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses for women. On elegant nights, passengers may choose to dress more formally in suits and ties, tuxedos or evening gowns, but this level of dress is not required. Number of Formal Nights: There are two elegant nights per seven-night cruise, one on shorter cruises. Edited April 13, 2014 by poison7fl
k2excursion Posted April 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2014 Yes, there is 1 elegant night. It is almost always on the 2nd night, whether that is a port day or sea day. I have been on many cruises where the 2nd day was a port day, but we still had elegant night that night.
