MTcruiser1970 Posted April 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2014 Hi, I would like to ask someone who has been on MSC Fantasia what type of sockets they have in the cabins. i have read that on some MSC ships only European sockets are available on others i read that there are American sockets. We use British 3 prong in my country and would definetely need an adaptor, but which one, a European round 2 prong or the American flat 2 prong type? Thanks to anyone who can advise. Pamxox Posted April 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I am from the UK so have three pronged plugs so needed an adapter. They had both types of sockets but we only used the European ones.
AmoMondo Posted April 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2014 As others have said, they have both but the European ones work best for non US appliances.
Skipper Tim Posted April 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2014 As others have said, they have both but the European ones work best for non US appliances. Just to clarify, this is down to the difference in voltage. While the UK used to have 240V AC and continental Europe 220V AC, in a typical EU compromise, the EU standardised on 230V AC across all member states. The US however uses 120V AC. If you have an appliance intended for the EU voltage use the EU socket, even if a plug adaptor is required.
