How much cash should I take???

How much cash should I take?

I know this seems like a dumb question, and that what's enough cash for one person isn't necessarily enough for another.

But I was wondering what a good approximate amount would be? I think I have figured out all the tipping and how much we need. But what about for extras?

I just called RCCL and asked about cashing a check on board. It just sounds like it will be easier to get the cash before we board! And they charge $5 to use the ATM's on board.

We are going on the Rhapsody for one week.(5 of us) I don't usually buy a lot of junk on trips, but Im sure I'll buy some!:)

Have any of you ever run out of cash on a cruise or had trouble getting more? Any sugestions???? Thanks in advance for any advice.

You'll find many' date=' many posts on this board to help with this [b']IF[/b] you'll do a search. It's a very broad question, with lots of ifs and whats. One way to avoid the ATM, however, is to get $$ at the casino window by putting it on your Seapass.

Well for the two of us we bring about $100 per day. But we do use our Credit Cards most of the time when we travel so you don't need to worry about the exchange rate if there is any. So most of the times we end up bring some money home. So for a 7 day cruise we bring somewhere between $500-$800. I like to tip the crew during the cruise. They remember you and you get great service. The other tipping at the end of the cruise can be put on your Credit Card or your Sail and Sign or Seapass card (you get when you board the ship). So it will free up some of your cash too.:D

For my DW and I, I usually take between $2500 and $3000 and have money when we head home. It also depends on how good the casino is to me over the course of the cruise. Last year the casino wasn't too good to me, but verrrry good to the misses.

On the ship - almost all expenses are charged to your cabin (tours, drinks, spa visits etc.) Actual cash we spend on the trip is for bingo (usually not chargeable to room), casino and tips plus whatever we think we'll spend on the island. If cash isn't exhausted by end of trip we pay off the account for the cabin - if not we just let it hang on the charge til we get home. Don't forget about needing cash on the way home for going thru airports to eat - drink - and to get your car out of hawk wherever you parked it!

We usually take enough cash for tips in an envelope and a bunch of $1's and $5's for room service tips. Cash in small bills for buying stuff ashore.

Mostly we use our CC card and of course for onboard purchases you will use your sea pass. If you don't want to carry much cash ashore then get travelers checks.

If you need some cash then avoid the atm machine, take your seapass card and get cash for no fee at the casino
