Volendam cabin safe

Virgin cruiser here. I can't find any reference on the HAL site to there being safes in the cabins. Does anyone know?

Yes, there is a safe in the room. Use any card with a mag. strip to open/close

There is also a note on the safe advising not to use your cabin key card to operate the safe.

All HAL cabins are equipped with safes. Most use a four digit combination. There are still a few of the older ships that use the magnetic strip to open.

As stated above, most are digital. XXXX (any four numbers) followed by * to lock. Same XXXX to open. You can use any numbers each time to lock, but remembering what they were is helpful :)

We were on the Volendam in February, and the safes are still the old magnetic strip ones. I had forgotten to tell DH and he was expecting one of the newer ones, and was annoyed with me, as he had to use a credit card, which he then hid in a drawer so we both had access to it. If I had it to do again, I'd take some other sort of magnetic stripe card, so we wouldn't have to use the credit card!
