We would like to experience some of the night life and are looking for some suggestions . We are from San Francisco. so nothing would shock us. VidaNaPraia Posted April 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2014 Go to Lapa to listen to live samba and maybe try dancing some samba gafieira with the locals. You might like the club Carioca da Gema.
VidaNaPraia Posted April 20, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) And if you're feeling more adventurous, you could go to a samba school rehearsal at their home "quadra". November 20 seems to be a Thursday and Thursdays are the nights the Beija Flor samba school holds their rehearsals. The quadra is at Rua Pracinha Wallace Paes Leme in Nilopolis. Go by taxi and ask the driver to return for you. Edited April 20, 2014 by VidaNaPraia
Fattony Posted April 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) Maybe you can check listings in online editions of "O Globo" and other newspapers. Note that many shows may have an announced start of 11 p.m., but the real start will be after midnight. If you could be more specific as to what you want to see, posters could give better input. Where are you staying? Your hotel's concierge desk may help, but they may steer you to typical places for tourists. Some nightclubs/discos will cater to those very young and/or single males looking for ladies for the evening. It may be a bit early to look for specific shows featuring headliners. What time are you arriving? Where are you staying? Edited April 20, 2014 by Fattony
