Carnival Conquest transition review -San Juan to Miami

Enjoying your review so far. I was on Conquest before your sailing for the New Orleans to San Juan leg of Conquest's repositioning. Going to Dominica in November for the Splendor repo cruise from San Juan to Miami. Got an idea for an excursion from your review. :)

You will love it, we do want to go back. We were looking at your cruise, we love New Orleans!

We will try to review Antigua tomorrow but no promises as King James will be in for a rough day. I apologize if some of the photos are out of order or we post duplicates. We get caught up in reliving our memories and we have over a thousand photos. If dad points at a picture I post it, I tried separating them by ports but I am sure some are in the wrong folder. If you call it to my attention I will try to fix it but it wasn’t done on purpose. It’s a great distraction for dad from his pain while he is having his treatment and everyone comes over and talks to him about it. He has quite the following going on at the hospital. So again I apologize for any confusion.

Sorry,:o:o:o I wasn't trying to get you side tracked, I just remember the beautiful sunset when we were leaving Antiqua. Great review, keep up the good work.

Oh no don't be sorry! We have 73 pictures of sunsets from this trip, honestly it was amazing how many beautiful sunsets we enjoyed! I am just trying to be accurate, and I am glad you pointed it out. You were right Dad remembers the bird sunset being Antigua!

There were great sunsets on this cruise but I think the one leaving Antiqua was one of the best we have ever seen on a cruise. I hope King James is doing better.

Today will be a long day for him, DH and him have a 4 hour drive to see a specialist and a 4 drive back plus all the testing, poor guy. Yes I could not believe all the beautiful sunsets, not sure if it was the time of year or what!

I wanted to see if I could do your cruise also but I could not because of the Jones Act. :( Still enjoyed my time on the cruise & in San Juan. New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in the world. Lived there for 5 years before Katrina. Now I live 2 hours west of New Orleans. Still go back frequently to see friends & cruise.

It's possible dad is picking the pictures as we go. We had a couple of beautiful sunsets so I may not have organized them right. Sorry for the confusion, I am trying.

I was never so happy to have an aft balcony! There was only one night we weren't able to watch the sunset from our balcony!

Antigua…

Dad woke up this morning and refused his wheelchair his demand was he would get where he was going on his own stream or not at all. This was DH and mine second time here. We have done the island tour, which was great, Devils Bridge was amazing, but this time we decided to be beach bums.

King James getting there on his own steam....

We grabbed a taxi and asked him to take is to the closest beach, all beaches here are just lovely.

The next day was our only sea day and we were tired. We had the best meet and greet, very well organized and so much fun. Honestly, they did a great job.

Thoughts on Antigua… we love it here and you can’t go wrong with a beach day at any beach. We loved having lunch right on the beach and just soaking up the sun. Grand Turk is next and was my favorite stop, just wow!

We all agreed that Grand Turk was our favorite stop. I really wanted dad to enjoy the island so we rented a golf cart for the day. Warning about the golf cart rentals, we stopped and helped to separate folks whose golf carts broke down and second they charged our credit card twice and still have not made it right! We did love being able to see the entire island at our own pace. If you’re going to rent a cart or jeep bring cash and your cell.

I hope King James is doing good. I am enjoying your review and your love for your Dad. That had to be hard adventure but a well worth one. I lost my Dad last summer and wish I could have done something like this. Thank you so much for sharing your Dad with us.

The next morning we arrived in Miami. We had breakfast in the morning in the main dining room. It was a long and exhausting holiday but it was priceless. DH and I will we on The Valor in September because we want to spend more time in San Juan. We have our own self walking tour printed up already. My favorite stop was Grand Turk because I loved the views from the light house and Jacks Shack was a blast. DH favorite stop was Dominica he loved the waterfalls and the mist Bar. King James favorite stop was St Kitts, he said he really enjoyed having lunch at the Shipwreck an talking with Rose about England. He also enjoyed the black sand beach and the monkeys. Marylou (dads live in caretaker) favorite stop was St Marteen because she said it had the best shopping am she really enjoyed Sarafine. The Conquest was a nice ship but didn't rate as among one of my favorites for one reason, no serenity! I didn't realize how much time we spend there till there wasn't one. It was kinda of a deal breaker for us to sail on her again. We did not have a balcony this trip because we thought we would have little time to enjoy it with only one sea day. We were wrong, with so many ports we were all exhausted at the end of the day and would have enjoyed the balcony more than ever to relax on before bedtime. We did not see any shows or enjoy the piano bar this time around but that was only because getting dad ready for the evening takes a few hours and our time was spent just sitting with him somewhere quiet, playing cards, watching the ocean, or reading. King James is holding his own these days, he has more bad days than good but he faces each of them with humor. Thanks for sharing our time, of I ever do another review I will keep a trip journal so I I have all the details!
