wrigley80 Posted May 6, 2014 Author #502 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Every time I read a review about Aruba, I think about how amazing it would be to find Natalee Holloway and rescued by a Carnival cruise passenger! Loving your review, miss Wrigley! :D Stay safe! :) You know I thought about the same thing while we were in Aruba. It was so sad what happened to that poor girl. But when you're in Aruba it is easy to see what happened to her. Those boys dumped her body at sea and was never to be seen again. The coastline in Aruba is so rocky and rugged that she was washed out to sea. :(
sholly Posted May 6, 2014 #503 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Our favorite bar waiter, Natasha. She was from the Ukraine Brianna: Thanks for posting that picture. Natasha is one of my all time favorite bar waiters. The last time I saw her was on the Conquest out of Galveston in 2008 and she was at the casino bar. I'm glad she is still with Carnival and I hope to see her again sometime. I'm really enjoying your review. Thank you for spending the time to entertain us all. aaron3219 Posted May 6, 2014 #504 Share Posted May 6, 2014 I have been on 14 different Carnival ships and while they all may look the same...they all have different quirks about them. In fact we are cruising again on the Dream again in December. I wish it was on a different ship but our friends were already booked on the Dream. Every ship is going to have a piano bar, a casino, main dining rooms, lido buffet, atrium, theater, and so on. But all those areas are going to look different from ship to ship. I would definitely fly to Florida or New Orleans and cruise on a different ship. You'll be surprised at how different they really are :) Thanks for taking the time to answer. I am kind of on the fence. We might try Pride 2.0 next year. It was so cheap this year for the 3 of us. I don't think I've ever spent that little on a vacation. Plus its only a 3 hour drive to the port. Who knows. My wife is all about spending 10 days at Disney for the tune of 7,000 dollars! We could do 3 and half cruises for that price.... She would see my dad and I walk up to the Atrium Bar and she would have a diet coke waiting for him before he even said he wanted one. She knew exactly what we wanted. She said she was on the last month of her contract before heading home at the end of May. Happy to hear that you're enjoying my review. I hope you continue to enjoy the rest

And the prices are good then it's ok to stick with what you like. That's usually the first thing I look at when booking a new cruise is the price. I like your way of thinking....3 cruises vs. 1 Disney vacation. I hope you win out on that one. Good Luck in your decision making. Good Luck in your decision making. Let me know what ya decide to do I do to. We bought the Disney Excursion from Carnival and spent a few hours there. I was NOT IMPRESSED. My wife argues that the vacations are for the kids. I tell her if I'm paying and tagging along then I want to have fun to. Crowds of people and 2 hour wait times for rides is not my idea of fun at all. I agree 100%. Tell my wife to let us take 3 cruises next year instead of 1 Disney vacation. Our new baby won't even be a year old at vacation time. He won't even enjoy Disney! Maybe I can send them to Disney and I'll take a solo cruise! That would be fun maybe! Rare bluejay555 Posted May 6, 2014 #508 Share Posted May 6, 2014 LOVING your review!!! You are talking me into skipping Jamaica and staying on the ship that day. cruizinisthebest Posted May 6, 2014 #509 Share Posted May 6, 2014 I've been to Jamaica twice. Once via cruise. Aside from the people begging, I enjoyed my time there. Some pretty places and beautiful resorts in Jamaica.

I was just talking with a client yesterday at work about the Disney excursion from Port Canaveral. I told them that it wouldn't be worth it because by the time they get to the park and stand in line. They would have about 3 hours to enjoy the park. That's not enough time to enjoy the park. Kids need to be at least 4 to enjoy Disney. Tell your wife that a cruise is perfect with the perfect price.....hehe Probably better not do the solo cruise....or you may end up cruising by yourself all the time if you know what I mean. bride123105 Posted May 7, 2014 #511 Share Posted May 7, 2014 My thought on Jamaica is: if the first place you go is Dunns River Falls and then have to walk through harassment city on the way out, it makes Jamaica feel like a terrible place. I was not that thrilled to go back. But this time I went on the Bob Marley Bus Tour and it made Jamaica seem like a much more beautiful place. I did feel bad for the stray dogs though. And about the seas on this cruise: I thought it was not great for the first 2.5 sea days while we were going to Aruba. In fact, the morning of Aruba I woke up and "tossed my cookies," which is the first time that has ever happened to me from being sea sick. The seas were much better though after we left Aruba and stopped fighting the current.

We don't avoid booking cruises that go to Jamaica....we just look at it like we are having another sea day. Yes the slides were open from 11:00-5:00 pm everyday. The Drainpipe slide was closed 2 days of our cruise for maintenance.

We talked to one of the "white suits" on our second sea day and he told us the reason for the rough seas was because of the winds going south. We didn't feel any issues with the waves and movement but I heard that others did. The floor on Lido Deck was like an ice skating rink those first two days. We avoided Lido Deck those first two days at all cost. What did you think of the floors on Lido Deck??

Yes they sold the Tervis mugs with the Red Frog and Blue Iguana logos. They were sold right at the bar. I agree with Brianna, there are different class ships, and many have similarities, but each have their own themes and quirks. Pride was my first Carnival cruise, and then I went on its sister ship, Legend, same layout and design, but I loved loved loved Legend. I pretty much decided that while Pride is closer to home, I had no desire to get back on her. However, due to the upgrades she will get, it's worth a second chance due to so many of the upgrades and new amenities she will get.

I know they are expensive but that way you would both get some of what you want. I know I would love to sail on Disney but my daughter is 20 now and my husband wouldn't go for spending that much with no children. I guess we will have to wait (hopefully a good while) for grandchildren. Then I will have an excuse to spend more for a Disney Cruise.
disneyfan68 Posted May 7, 2014 #522 Share Posted May 7, 2014 My dad and I both ordered the Cowboy Ribeye.....it was absolutely delicious :p Baked Potato with all the trimmings The cheesecake was HUGE. Now I have seen pictures from other people showing the cheesecake but pictures do it no justice. I ate about half as did my dad. We took the rest back to the room to eat later We ate at the Steakhouse on our cruise. All ordered the cheesecake but me. My back was to the kitchen but my husband's face said it all when he saw it coming. Crazy big! You are so right. The picture does not do it justice. It is huge!!!!
