wrigley80 Posted May 6, 2014 Author #476 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Well we were in our next port of call.....Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Now anyone who has read any of my past reviews will know that we don't get off the ship in Jamaica. We stay on the ship and enjoy a relaxing day. We didn't have good luck in Jamaica one time and I vowed never to step foot in the country again :( but that's cool with me. I love as like this when everyone else is off the ship....it's like you have the whole ship to yourself We went to breakfast in the MDR and then headed up to Deck 11 to see the sights
wrigley80 Posted May 6, 2014 Author #477 Share Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) The free beach in Ocho Rios. It is close to the cruise terminal This picture is always a tradition onboard every ship we cruise on. The funnel on the Dream was short and stubby :p Edited May 6, 2014 by wrigley80
wrigley80 Posted May 6, 2014 Author #478 Share Posted May 6, 2014 We decided that since we were in port today that we would play mini golf because it wouldn't be too windy up there. It was a perfect time to play It was a very nice course.....18 holes It was HOTTTTT today
wrigley80 Posted May 6, 2014 Author #479 Share Posted May 6, 2014 I got a hole in one on this hole....even though my dad thought I cheated :p The balls and clubs are right up at the course. That is so much better. They used to be down on Lido Deck and you had to sign them out in order to play. It is so much better having them on deck right at the mini golf Took a break from mini golf to watch the waves breaking against the reef

wrigley80 Posted May 6, 2014 Author #481 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Nice mini golf area but I highly recommend playing on a day when the ship is in port. Nobody else was up there playing and there was no wind Love this picture
wrigley80 Posted May 6, 2014 Author #482 Share Posted May 6, 2014 After we got done playing mini golf we were hot so it was time to cool off in the pool. This is the mid-ship pool.....the Waves Pool It felt very relaxing....and as you can see I was the only one swimming. Another reason why it's nice to stay onboard on a port day. wrigley80 Posted May 6, 2014 Author #492 Share Posted May 6, 2014 No luck in the Casino. We weren't playing here because the ship was still in port but it wasn't much better the rest of the cruise either
wrigley80 Posted May 6, 2014 Author #493 Share Posted May 6, 2014 I was getting close to sail-away time so we headed up to Deck 11 to watch us pull away from Ocho Rios The port area looked pretty quiet. We were suppose to leave at 4:00 pm but we didn't end up leaving until almost 4:45 because we were waiting for the evening entertainment to show up. Tonight's performer in the show lounge was running late so we were delayed. We will wait for them but no one else

aaron3219 Posted May 6, 2014 #496 Share Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) Since you are an experienced carnival cruiser I have a question. Looking at your pictures I noticed many many similarities between that ship and Carnival Pride. The layouts look the same, the shops looked the same, the cabins, ect ect. That ship looks much newer and had more slides. By same I mean same layout but different decorations. Are all the Carnival ships about the same? Me and my wife were looking at booking a cruise for next year and we had thought of flying to a different port instead of driving the 3 hours to Baltimore. But if the ships are all similar and with Pride being reworked for next cruising season it might be better to just save the cash by driving and hitting pride again. While there are certainly some similarities between ships, each one is different. Especially if you are comparing a Spirit Class ship (Pride) to a Dream class ship! A Dream class is WAY BIGGER and has lots of new features compared to the Pride, even after it recieves 2.0. I would broaden your horizons and try a differnt ship. You will get to experience more new ports that way as well, that you may not be able to visit on the same Pride cruises over and over again. wrigley80 Posted May 6, 2014 Author #498 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Me and my buddy. The hot tub behind us is one of two that are up on deck 11 After watching sail-away we decided to head back to the cabin to lay down for a bit before dinner. When we got back to the cabin I noticed that one of my posters from the door decorations was full of names. So I took that one down and put a new one up. I ended up filling up 2 of these posters throughout the cruise. I thought we would have had more but our cabin was off the main hallway We said we were gonna lay down for a few minutes well that turned into an hour and 20 minutes ;) :p oh well were on vacation. We woke up about 6:30 pm and decided that it was time to head to dinner

I have been on 14 different Carnival ships and while they all may look the same...they all have different quirks about them. In fact we are cruising again on the Dream again in December. I wish it was on a different ship but our friends were already booked on the Dream. Every ship is going to have a piano bar, a casino, main dining rooms, lido buffet, atrium, theater, and so on. But all those areas are going to look different from ship to ship. I would definitely fly to Florida or New Orleans and cruise on a different ship. You'll be surprised at how different they really are :)
Salt Wind Posted May 6, 2014 #500 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Every time I read a review about Aruba, I think about how amazing it would be to find Natalee Holloway and rescued by a Carnival cruise passenger! Loving your review, miss Wrigley! :D Stay safe! :)
