TxKroozer Posted April 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2014 Our cruise ship is arriving on Sundays at Papeete/Moorea & Lautoka, Fiji. We've found most independent tour operators are not available on Sundays. Also not sure what places will be open (i.e. Moorea AG school, bakeries, juice factory, etc.). We're really hoping not to have to take a ship sponsored excursion and don't feel comfortable renting a car. Any suggestions?
Tikiintahiti Posted April 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2014 Many of the usual places will be closed on Sunday on Moorea and Tahiti. As far as vendors each sets their own schedules, however, most of the vendors I know do work on Sunday when a ship is around the island. Jacs Posted April 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2014 We were in Moorea on a Sunday. The locals had a market set up at the tender point, and we did the ships 4x4 tour which took us to lookouts and through the pineapple plantations and forest. We were supposed to stop at the fruit juice factory and agriculture school but because they were closed we stopped at a place that grew vanilla and they had a small store to try some local jams. It was an amazing day and I didn't feel it was less enjoyable being there on a Sunday.
