DREAM - New Orleans

Who is debarking the Dream in New Orleans today? Can't wait to hear from you!

Embark and debark was not bad at all. It was crowded and messy but not too bad. Ship is in great shape but we all had problems with rude crew members. Not your typical friendly Carnival crew. Our cabin steward and wait crew were wonderful but others like bar crew were not.

Disappointed that there was no Guy's Burgers and the Lido food was aweful. One day it was difficult to find something we liked for lunch. Wound up eating pizza and burgers. The food was not good. A couple of nights we did not even go to the dining room. I don't know....something was just different and missing.

Shows were about the same as other Carnival ships. Reminded us of the Conquest shows.

Can you elaborate on the problems with Embark/Debark like the time you arrived at port, when you tried to get off the ship, etc. Problems getting through customs or getting luggage?

As I stated in the above post, embark and debark were NOT BAD. We took a tad bit longer to debark than usual but not bad. We were in our car and driving home by 9:45 AM. We had no problems. We were the first cruise out of NOLA for Dream and they asked us to arrive later than normal...so we did. We got there around noon and processed right on through. We were eating lunch in the Lido by 12:15.

We were on the first cruise on the Dream out of New Orleans also. We loved it! We were on the ship by 11:30. The crew were ALL very friendly. The food was wonderful. We ate in the dining room every night and thought it was some of the best cruise food we have had. And yes, we have cruised other cruise lines as well as Carnival. Debark was a breeze - they called for self - assist at about 7 and we were in the truck headed for home by 7:30. A great cruise for us!

Sorry, misread your original post. We board the Dream 2 weeks from today. I have purchased FTTF and hope to be at the port no later than 10:30 so that we can board quickly.

Sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with the food. I see another poster on the cruise liked the food. It is such a subjective thing, what I love you might not like at all and vice versa.

Thanks - we board in 2 weeks and I hope we get onboard early with FTTF. We also need to get off a little early as we have to get back home and my daughter then has to drive back to college to start summer classes on Monday.

Just off the Dream today as well. Embark was no problems at all. On the ship around 11:45am. Debark was a little worse. A LOT of PEOPLE were choosing self assist. They called for them at around 7am and it wasn't until almost 8:30am before they started the zone debark. I thought the food in general was the best I have had on a Carnival cruise. Lido buffet was actually edible, Tandoor & Pasta Bar were really good, MDR was excellent as well as the steakhouse. All the crew members that I came in contact with were great!

Embarking went fine, debarking was not as smooth at first. I never encountered any rude crew members on the ship, had a great time. This was my second time on the Dream. My only issue was the casino bar, it was the main place for TV's to catch up on sports. The bar was split for smokers and non-smokers. Not that it made much difference but smokers would remove the no-smoking signs to give them more room. Overall tho we had a great time.
