kayehall Posted May 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2014 I am looking for a laid back beach bar with some shaded areas and nice access to the water. Place to hang and maybe have lunch. Any preference between the 2 listed? Any other suggestions?
Arubalisa Posted May 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2014 Which one doesn't matter all that much. Bugaloe is on a pier out over the water. MoomBa is directly on the beach. There are vendors renting chaises and umbrellas adjacent to Bugaloe. MoomBa has everything right there. They are on the exact same beach about 1/2 mile apart. xplor97 Posted May 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2014 Arubalisa...How about the "scene" at each place? Do they both have the same crowd or is one more lively than the other? How about music?
Arubalisa Posted May 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2014 Both have a similar "vibe". :) Just that one is out over the water and the other is on the beach. They both have live music some nights, but only at night.

Arubalisa, Can you tell us how far Moomba Beach is from the cruise port ? Taxi, bus, walking ? Thanks for your guidance.
Arubalisa Posted May 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 21, 2014 You really cannot walk it from the cruise terminal. By taxi it will be 20 minutes tops. Depends upon traffic getting out of the cruise terminal and downtown Oranjestad. Taking the bus will be closer to an hour. Time is dependent upon how many stops the bus makes to take on and let off passengers.
Emfagan Posted May 22, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 22, 2014 We took the city bus from the main bus terminal (close to cruise pier) to Moomba. It took about 30 minutes and then 5 minute walk down to beach from bus stop. $2.30 per person...can't beat it!
nikki908 Posted May 22, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 22, 2014 We were in Aruba last week. We walked to the bus station and found there was a booth selling round trip passes for $4 per person. (They are about credit card size and are good for 2 trips on the bus.) The ride to Palm Beach near Bugaloe took no more than 20 minutes, return was about the same.
