Fletch1 Posted May 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) We have stayed at this hotel and would highly recommend it. We had a self contained apartment, so we could do our own meals in the room. The hotel has a great pool on the roof with a fantastic view of Sydney. Staff were very friendly and very obliging. Room was spacious with a separate lounge/dining area away from sleeping area (separated by the kitchen area). Quiet and serviced daily. We paid about $120 per night for 3 nights, if that helps. There is a supermarket directly opposite to buy your groceries if need be and it is central to buses and the train. The ferries are 2 blocks away at Circular Quay. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and it is walking distance to The Rocks area, where there are heaps of restaurants and pubs. If you don't have too much luggage, you could walk there when you disembark if you dock in Circular Quay. The airport is about a 20-30 minute drive away, depending on traffic and the taxi fare is about $35-40. You can also catch the train to the airport direct from Circular Quay railway station after a walk of 2 blocks (400 metres) from the Hotel. You walk straight along George street. You won't be disappointed!!! Be aware, if your ship is leaving from or arriving at White Bay, it is a 20 minute drive ($30 taxi fare) away from the Mantra. There is no accommodation or public transport at White Bay. The smaller ships (Dawn/Sun Princess and P&O) leave from White Bay as the bigger ships (Diamond/Solstice etc) cannot fit under the Harbour Bridge and have to dock at Circular Quay. csunshine860 Posted May 9, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted May 9, 2014 Many thanks Fletch for the fantastic info. We are looking at a service apt as well . Queen with balcony at 170 per night. Now just have to decide. Christine
Fletch1 Posted May 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2014 We had a balcony as well, but as we were at the back of the building, it looked into another building, so really couldn't use it. Much better sitting up on the roof at sunset (with a glass of wine of course). If you do pick this hotel, the supermarket is a Safeway supermarket and it is in the basement under a building opposite. It is a big supermarket. Good luck with your decision.
