Buying on board cruise credit certificates

If I prepay for my cruise credit account will they refund the balance to me in cash on the last night? I prefer to do this and prepay all service charges before going so I know what I spend. Also, I have my reservation and can book ultimate dining and excursions but there is no option to pre-pay the service charge or purchase the ultimate beverage package - do I have to call to do that?

I thought that same thing, so I purchased $1200 OBC certificates knowing the total of the excursions, dinner, and DSC. First headache was at check-in, they still wanted a credit card to open my ship-board account. It didn't matter that I had my copies of my OBC confirmation. NCL had given us $100 OBC as Latitude benefit.

2nd headache was the last night I went to guest services to get my account print out, discovered that NCL had been using my purchased OBC, without touching the NCL OBC. So I had $100 NON-REFUNDABLE from NCL, and $200 REFUNDABLE of my purchased OCB remaining.

3rd headache, I went to the credit desk to try and get a refund. I was told the remainder of my purchased OBC would be mailed to my home address on record taking approximately 2 weeks. I knew I had a trip to Maui the next week and wanted the cash. The NCL OBC was use it or lose it.

I ended up going to the casino, paying 3% fee to get my $200 in cash. Then I stopped and bought a Guess watch with the $100 NCL OBC. Too many headaches for me to ever think of doing this again. I will just give the credit card at check-in, then go to the credit desk the last night and settle my account in cash. There was absolutely no benefit to having the OBC. JMHO!
