ellieanne Posted May 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2014 One of the best tours I did was a Nature Walk in Corner Brook. It was great, some wooded areas, a fish ladder, and other interesting things. Definitely worth it. In Quebec, I'd recommend a Canyon Ste. Anne tour. The one I did stopped at the bottom of Montmorency Falls, and I had been only at the top of the falls on other tours. Ste. Anne de Beaupre has a beautiful area around it, with the Stations of the Cross along the mountainside. Definitely worth seeing if you are into that kind of thing. maryann ns Posted May 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2014 What a great itinerary. L'Anse aux Meadows is an archaeological site and worth seeing. Then I would rent a car and drive around this tiny remote area. Maybe you will see some iceburgs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Anse_aux_Meadows Havre Saint Pierre I looked up on wikipedia and found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Havre-Saint-Pierre,_Quebec Perhaps you can get some ideas about what to do from what the ship is offering. For Corner Brook, rent a car and drive to the Gros Morne National Park. It is very scenic. there have been previous posts about this. If you go back to the Ports of Call - Canada page you could do a search. Look to the right of the blue bar near the top of the page. If your ship offers an excursion to Western Brook Pond with a boat ride - take it! http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/nl/grosmorne/activ/activ2b.aspx You can also look for previous posts about Quebec. It is such an old city, and very interesting just for wandering around. You really need no plan if you don't want. However many guidebooks publish self-walking tours and you may find one if you search online. http://wikitravel.org/en/Quebec_City

The Lower Northern Peninsula is a geological wonder; looks much like the fjords of Norway, but about a mile inland. This happened when the last ice age ended and as the weight of the ice disappeared the land lifted, moving the shoreline inland. Every time we get to go there I am absolutely awestruck by the beauty of the place. Viking once lived at Lanse aux Meadows, it is interesting. Prefer nature sight seeing and similar to museums:rolleyes:. Thanks, Greg Québec City is lovely. I recommend you walk the old city with or without a guide. This is going to take you at least a few hours. To help, here is a port guide written by a devoted fellow cruiser (free with no publicity): http://www.tomsportguides.com/Quebec-06-10-2011.pdf Once you have toured the old city, there are “nature” inclined things you can do. Here is a recent tourism web site for inspiration: http://www.quebecregion.com/en/what-to-do/activities-attractions/nature-adventure/ Many years back, I personally enjoyed walking up the stairs leading up the top of the Montmorency Fall. I have never been to Cornerbrook, but the same cruiser who wrote the Québec City port guide wrote a Cornerbrook one: http://www.tomsportguides.com/CornerBrook-NL-01-31-2013.pdf
