Has anyone done this excusion with Carnival? Going in May and trying to decide what to do. Would like to go to a beautiful tropical beach. Do they have mats and chairs included?

Any info is appreciated!

Don't pay money to go to the Jungle Beach Break when Majahual is right down the road! It's free, there are plenty of chairs, and food, and it's the most beautiful beach I've ever seen!

We did Jungle Beach Break last week with RCI. It's a beautiful beach with lots of chairs, paddle boats kayaks, and many other amenities. We felt it was worth the price. Nicest day of our cruise!

Was there any place to rent life vests at Jungle Beach Break??

Do you have any pictures of the beach that I can take a look at??

I believe that life vests are available to borrow as the paddle boats and kayaks are free and I saw people in them with life vests. If I can figure out where to post my pics to be viewed, I do have some of the Uvero beach. Guess I should get one of those photo share sites, huh?

I would love to see photos also if possible.
I just wonder what is included, like the info on a shore excursion list from cruiseline. Anyone have one??

I am probley going to book it. We have so far enjoyed what excursions we have done thru Carnival. There are some we do "on our own" but sometimes it is nice to have all the arangements taken care of.

Thanks for your response!

I don't have the excursion list, but included in ours (RCL) was the transportation, (about a 20 minute ride from the pier)open bar, beach/sand chairs, paddle boats, kayaks and games such as volleyball both sand and water. The food was ok and reasonably priced, you could rent snorkle equipment for $10 and massages were $20 for 30 minutes. There were some little gift shops as well. Fun to look at but nothing great.

Am I understanding the jungle beach break correctly? It seems that you pay the fee for the beach break, in order to go to a nicer beach ( Uvero) than the one right off the pier. You also get " open bar ", games, etc. Is it reall y worth the $36-- how much better is it than the beach off the pier?

No comparison with the beach off the pier! Even with tours from several ships Uvero Beach was not really crowded. No shortage of chairs or "toys" (paddle boats, etc), The beach off the pier was a mob scene, as was the pool. We aren't big drinkers, but a couple of frozen drinks throughout the day were nice. We felt it was well worth the cost.

I have found sometimes it is nice to do a ship excursion and save the hassle of making arrangements. Just show up at your time and go.

Transportation, beach chair, frozen drinks, kayaks, away from crowds, 20.00 massage, snorkling... sounds good to me.

I appreciate you taking the time to answer. Hard to find info I guess since it is a fairly new port. Re assuring to hear of someone else who has been there. Thanks!
Is the meals also included? If not, how were the prices? We plan on booking and looking forward to the 20.00 massage. How long is the 20.00 massage?
No the food was not included. The prices were very reasonable, though. The massage was pretty close to an hour.

This may seem like a silly question, but who actually does the drinks for this excursion? My friends and I are considering it, but we're afraid of drinking the frozen drinks if they are made with the local ice. We don't drink beer and the included drinks would be the only draw to keep us from choosing Mahahual instead. Don't want to be sick for the rest of our cruise. Anyone had any problems? Thanks for your responses.

The drinks are done at the bars on the beach. I'm not sure of the source of the water, but I had a couple of frozen drinks and some sodas with ice. Hubby was drinking beer, but older son had frozen drinks as well and younger son had soda with ice. No problems with the water.. I didn't hear of any problems from shipmates either.

Hi all. Went there this past week. Complete waste of money. Beach right at the pier for free! Swmming pool at pier for free! Uvero beach is 30-40 mins one way on a bus. Who wants to waste this vacation time sitting on a bus? The bus was comfortable, aire conditioned, but drives very, very fast. You are literally taken out to the middle of absolutely nowhere. However, beach fills up since Rccl and carnival use it on same day, and i'm sure if other ship lines were in port, they would all be there too! Limited food menu. If you stay at the pier, you can go back onto ship for lunch or eat from other places at pier. RCCL refunded our money. I would never recommend this place. Beach was nice, but nothing spectacular. Tons and tons of bees on one side of beach. Rocky also, so bring water shoes. I just wouldn't pay money again to go to this excursion. Other options, free, that are much better and closer to ship.

I would also like to directly respond to people who recommend this place. Who wants to sit on a bus for 30-40 mins one way? On the way back, you have to wait in a line to once again, get on the bus for the trip back. You are looking at least a one hour transportation time. And for what? The unlimited bar left some people with their heads literally in the sink. This is only one stop on a cruise that usually takes you to at least 2 or 3 other places. And besides, what is wrong with the pool and beach located at the pier? We didn't see anything wrong with those areas. For anyone who's concerned about what you are eating or drinking, well if you stay at the pier, you can easily go back to the ship. There was a transportation shuttle going between RCCL, Carnival and the end of the pier, since it's a decently long walk in the heat. I would just be really interested to hear what the big difference is and why anyone would want to haul their kids on a bus for it and then wait in a line to get back to the ship. Please explain.

Additionally, at Uvero, your food choices are extremely limited. We were looking forward to authentic Mexican food, chips, etc. We got round tostitos with cheese poured over them for nachos and salsa that tasted like it came out of a can. The beef tacos were tasteless. As far as drinks, Uvero, like all other tourist destinations in Mexico, is now required to use purified water for ice cubes. The only way you'd get sick here is if you overindulged in the alcohol at the open bar.

Did I read this correctly? Someone said the beach at the pier was a mob scene? When did you go? A few days ago when we were there, there were two ships at port, RCCL Explorer and Carnival, either Inspiration or Sensation. We went to the beach and pool at 3:30 ish, ship time, which would still give us at least 1-2 hrs to get back on the ship. The beach had 4 people in the water and absolutely no one sitting on the chairs. Most people were crowded in the bars at the pier or walking back to the ship from some sort of excursion. The pool had people in it, but not what we would consider crowded. When we returned to the ship and told people of our experience, this is what another cruiser told us. "The smartest thing to do is to hang out on the ship and wait for the crowds to die down. The pools at the ship are deserted. You then head out to the beach at the pier around 1 or 2 when everyone else has had it for the day. Or you go to that Majaruhal place."

Sorry to all in advance about my candid and frank responses regarding this place. I just could not see myself ever paying $36 per person (including kids) to go there again. And what about the time lost on the bus. Our ride was definitely not 20 mins as another person indicated. 30 something mins going and over 40 returning, as we had to stop for another bus on the way since it's a two lane highway, but pretty small, so the buses wait for each other before they go. I was raised with the words "free" and "nice" never in the same sentence. Well, of course if you pay for it, it's got to be nice. Free usually equals some sort of catch or something else attached to it. Not the case in all the ports we went to this past week. Free (or close to it) meant quiet, better and relaxed beaches. This has usually been our experience in the past with ship excursions to beaches. The only reason we booked costa maya is because we had never been there before and hadn't done our homework on the board. We are very spoiled travelers. This place was defniitely not worth $108 for 3 people. In any case even if it was free, I still wouldn't spend over an hour of my time on a bus to get there. Totally ridiculous.
