Patches1966 Posted May 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2014 We are already booked on the Dream ship leaving June 1st. My son and his one year old little boy decided last minute to go with us. Today I can book a Balcony gty for $589.00 or pick a Balcony for $619.00. I know the Pack and Go rates come out tomorrow. Should I wait or are these already good rates for a Balcony room leaving June 1st! I know it is just a guess but what do you think. Would it be better to see if it is cheaper tomorrow. It would be a room with three people in it!
k2excursion Posted May 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 21, 2014 I see the $589 for Carnival picking the room, but I'm not seeing the $619. I'm seeing over a $400 difference between you picking & Carnival picking for 3 people. With that difference, I would probably take the chance and let Carnival pick it, even though we could end up over/under a noisy area. If you pick your own room, get off Upper deck. Move up higher, to a room with rooms both above & below, like you would have on lido deck.
Patches1966 Posted May 21, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted May 21, 2014 Thank you! We ended up letting Carnival pick and we got a Cove Balcony on the main level midship. It is room 2284.
2bthereagain Posted May 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2014 Not 100% sure on the Dream, but on the Breeze 2284 is an excellent Cove because it doesn't have a lifeboat above it and it doesn't have an adjoining door either. And, it's not under the galley. In my opinion, you got assigned a great cabin. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Forums mobile app
cricket_7 Posted May 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2014 I'll be on the same cruise with you! I upgraded my inside to a "carnival pick your room" balcony for 3 of us and we received a room on deck 9. 11 more days..can't wait!!
k2excursion Posted May 22, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2014 You got a great cabin assignment with 2284. It is a cove in the perfect position, halfway between elevators & below an extension of the dining room. Should be very quiet from above. And it's not an adjoining room. For traveling in a cove on the Dream for 3 people, that room would be my # 1 recommendation, along with the one on the other side of the ship in the same spot. I'm not sure about the lifeboat overhead thing. Some people like working on their tans out on their balcony (even though the rays would be quite weak at that angle). For me, I use the lido deck areas for that. In my cove, I didn't care about the lifeboat overhead. It's irrelevant if you don't care about sun/shade. Britbrie Posted May 22, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I'll be on this cruise with you!! And, I say if you want one of the room options you have now then book it... if you are indifferent, then wait till tomorrow! That's just what I would do though. :)
