weezi Posted May 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2004 has anyone ever went to belize while in costa maya? if so, how did you get there? angela
churchplanters Posted May 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2004 We lived there for a while and traveled to Belise via a road WSW of Chetumal. Take the road from Costa Maya west to 307 and turn left (south). See map below. Before you get to chetumal there will be a road to your right that goes to the Belize border. There are signs posted letting you know that is the Belize road. At the border you must go through a military/imagration checkpoint. Just accross is a "free zone" where you can shop duty free. Most speak English and Spanish in Belize. Bookit Posted May 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Does this work in "reverse" also. We will probably go to Belize before Costa Maya again. We were unable to go to the "Temple of the Masks" ruins (excursion cancelled by operator ... not enough interest)wonder if it just as easy to cross the Belize border, as the ruins are just a few miles into Mexico from there.
