Rambler5678 Posted May 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2014 Besides soda, cruise tips, gambling, alcohol, spa, gift shop, excursions etc. What is not included in your cruise fare?
ChaCr Posted May 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2014 Most of the specialty restaurants charge a fee. Also, the use of the medical facilities. Let's hope you don't need them. I think you listed all of the other expenses you normally encounter on a cruise. charles
take us away Posted May 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) you about covered the usual items but the special restaurants charge as does the medical staff for appointments, etc. (at least drug storage in the fridge or freezer plus seasickness and headache meds are still free) - basically anything you 'buy' on board is charged to your account. HAL has daily 'hotel charges' that are added to your account but we always provide extra tips to the excellent stewards and factor that into our needed cash. There may be visa charges depending on the cruise you are taking, i.e. to Australia. Rare whogo Posted May 25, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 25, 2014 The fare does not include nebulous "taxes, fees and port expenses." From Holland America: Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses, as used by us, may include any and all fees, charges, tolls and taxes imposed on us by governmental or quasi-governmental authorities, as well third party fees and charges arising from a vessel’s presence in a harbor or port. Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses may include U.S. Customs fees, head taxes, Panama Canal tolls, dockage fees, wharfage fees, inspection fees, pilotage, air taxes, hotel or VAT taxes incurred as part of a land tour, immigration and naturalization fees, and Internal Revenue Service fees, as well as fees for navigation, berthing, stevedoring, baggage handling/storage and security services. Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses may be assessed per passenger, per berth, per ton or per vessel. Assessments calculated on a per ton or per vessel basis will be spread over the number of passengers on the Ship. Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses are subject to change and we reserve the right to collect any increases in effect at the time of sailing even if the fare has already been paid in full.
