dchi72 Posted May 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2014 We are new to Norwegian. We have been on three cruises. All on Carnival. What should a "newbie" know? Anything we should be aware of?

Redheel Girl Posted May 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2014 I am also sailing on the Jewel out of Houston's Bayport. From what I have found out it is a half hour drive from Houston to Bayport. A lot of the Roll Call Cruisers on my Cruise October 18 are staying near the Port. I have cruised NCL quite a few times. I enjoy the Freestyle Dining with so many options of where to eat and you can pick your own Dining time. Dress is Dressy,Resort Casual down to Shorts and flipflop's. I am an early to board person even though I may not get aboard until later. Try to find your Roll Call and join the fun!
Susie51 Posted May 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2014 I'm also sailing on Jewel out of Houston. This will be my second time on Jewel and 9th NCL cruise. I have only been on Carnival once in an inside cabin. On NCL I have been in inside to Owners suite. Here are my opinions based on only one Carnival cruise, so I am only comparing inside to inside. Better beds and baths and larger state rooms on Carnival except for Norwegian Crown which is no longer a part of NCL. Better buffet food, better selection at the 24 hour café, production shows, and dance parties on NCL. There are lots of things to do on Jewel, but it is my least favorite pool and it has small whirl pools by the pool. My suggestion is while on your cruise look for the positives about NCL. When you get back from it, you can make comparisons.
