Carnival won't DOWNGRADE me!

I requested to be moved from a 6C cabin to a 6B cabin. I was told that since I'm past the penalty date they can't move me, even though they can get more money for the cabin I have. Of all the cotton, pickin' #@!% - you get the idea.;) I'll live with the cabin I have, I guess. I'm just amused with the way they operate.

They can downgrade you if you are persistant.

I booked an OV (6) then discovered the amazing 4K interiors and rang up to change 1 month before sailing. I was told no, not even if I kept it the same price.

I rang again and explained again (this time time I didnt care about the 60 quid OBC I wouldnt get as the cabin was better) and after talking to the supervisors and waiting 5 min I got moved to my desired cabin.

They have the buttons/tech to do it....as long as you do not expect money back.

Thanks, but for me it's not worth the trouble. I've seen many people post that they keep trying until they get someone who can do what others insist cannot be done. This was my second attempt. First person told me that I could get the cabin if I paid the going rate which is much more than I paid. I didn't want to hold for a supervisor since I got the feeling when I requested one that the rep wasn't go to put me thru. But like I say, it isn't worth the trouble. I just posted because, like I say, I was amused that they won't let someone downgrade even when a refund or obc isn't requested and they probably would get more money for the cabin I would be releasing since the rates went up.

Cabins get harder to fill closer to cruise date. They would probably have to lower the price on your cabin to fill it at this point in time so they could very well be losing money on your move, not gaining revenue.

Did you book an early saver rate?

What was the per person rate you originally paid for your 6C and what is the current pricing for the 6B based on the best current fare code you qualify for? (Like Past Guest or Senior or Military) If the 6B is currently more $$$, did you get the option to buy up to get the 6B cabin downgrade?

If your downgrade transaction resulted in increased revenue, they would probably wave any penalties and do it. If it was revenue neutral or negative they would not.

I can understand why Carnival would not do this switch based on "what the next guy" might pay as "the next guy" may book the 6C cabin at a lower rate such as Interliner, Casino Qualified, Employee etc....

I decided to try one more time and got a very sweet sales agent who spoke with her supervisor who needed to speak to someone else who was able to approve the change. Took some work (hah, if only work was really this easy) but I'm a happy camper. Special thanks to Velvetwater for advising me.

They do have rules and sometimes they follow them and sometimes they will not.

Well said, which is why it is hard to give consistent answers on here.

No problem and glad it worked out for you. :)

Getting the cabin you want after all the stress is a great feeling isnt it?
