Disney or Not...

DW and I are wanting to plan a cruise for DD's 4th birthday in January 2015. We are considering DCL, but was wondering if its worth spending the money on DCL at this age. We also will have our other DD who will be 9 months old.

 

DCL seems great, but just not sure its worth the money at this age. 4 days on the Dream at $2400 or 5 on Carnival at $1100.....

My question wouldn't be whether it is "worth it" for the 4 year old (a great age!), but rather for the 9 month old. It might make sense to wait till the 9 month old is almost 3. At 2 years + 11 months, a child pays infant rates but if toilet trained, can participate in all 3 year old activities. That would make the 4 year old 6/7 which is not "too old" by any means.

 

Those prices are ridiculous and I'm shocked at how many bookings already exist. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if people drop reservations an deals become available.

4 is a fantastic age! We went on the Fantasy and my 4yo loved everything, especially bibbity bobbity boutique and meeting the characters.

Personally, I would not spend that kind of money on a 4 year old's birthday. I don't remember much at all from that age. I would wait until the younger one is older for sure.

 

Carnival has a great kid's club and at less than half the price, it would win hands down in my book. You could go on 2 cruises instead!

Heck, I would not travel anywhere with a nine month old, DCL or any other, or anywhere,,,too stressful. Just sitting at the house is enough work with a nine month old.:eek:
