earlbird Posted June 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2014 Can anyone suggest some tours in Maui that are not large buses - more like vans? We really would like to be with a smaller group. One large company offers "Best of Maui" and "Haleakala Crater" tours. This is what we would be interested in, but not on a fifty seat bus. Thank you. Susan-M Posted June 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2014 Valley Isle Excursions and Temptation Tours both offer tours in vans. I haven't used either, but reviews for both are really good (on Tripadvisor.) Maui is a very easy place to drive and explore on your own, if renting a car is something that you would consider doing. Rare cruiser2015 Posted June 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2014 We are booked with Valley Isle for the July 5th POA sailing.
elhenry Posted June 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2014 For a small, customized tour you could try Bryan Miner http://www.mauisprivateguide.com We did not actually use Bryan because he could not accommodate my mother in a wheelchair, but he was very generous in giving us tips for our own planning. el henry
Ilovesailing Posted June 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2014 Most if not all tour companies in Maui only use either mini buses or vans as and example the road to Hana is a narrow 2 lane winding road too narrow to take large buses. We have used Roberts Hawaii for six cruises plus for land tours as well. They have very good pricing and even better if you book a 3/4 combo. CactusFlower527 Posted June 15, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 15, 2014 We rented a jeep and just did Haleakala Crater on our own.. but there were 4 of us and it was way cheaper for us to do a 4 way split on a rental car and gas that book 4 people on a small tour. It's very drivable on your own and if you are on the NCL POA - Maul is overnight on Sunday - so there is no cut off for getting back to the ship on Sunday
Lorey2007 Posted October 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2014 (edited) We are checking on all suggestions. Thank you. Hi earlbird, did you find a tour company to tour with in Maui that had the smaller buses? I'm searching for the same thing. We do not want to rent a car.
