New things about the Imagination

Well I just got off the ship yesterday from a quick trip to Ensenada and noticed a few things.

1st, the chocolates were not on my pillow each evening

2nd, there were no stateroom ameneties. My little clamshell had nothing but a bar of soap.

3rd, I was in a suite and it didn't seem very clean. The table pedistal was dirty, the carpet was not only dirty looking but also seemed to need to be stretched as well.

4th I loved the Mongolian Wok and the Serenety Deck but wished the ship had seem some other upgrades too.

5th The dining room seemed more casual. Perhaps it was the lack of tablecloths, the bread "box", or the pour your own water carafe. Hard for me to feel like I need to dress for dinner when I can receive the same look and environment at Denny's. Even the menu lacked the sense of elegance it once had.

Our room steward Chris was awesome as were our wait staff in the dining room.

We found the casino staff to be hit and miss. One young gal Elisa (?) was amazing and very personable. The others... nothing, no smiles and one dealer just happened to be more interested in the basketball game than doing his job. Oh well didn't stop us from depositing our cash.

Any way none of the items were enough to concern me too much but I did notice.

We are on the Imagination this November. It is one of those ships they cannot fill & I think they do not care about.

The only reason we are going is because we got 4 nights in a GS for $300.pp

If we wanted an inside room it would have been free.

Just about every date from now until the end of the year were available.

We got the offer in an email from Carnival as I am sure many others did. We have only sailed with them twice before.

LOL -- We were on the same sailing and since I'd never sailed on Carnival before, I had no expectations and didn't notice anything "missing". I didn't notice the carpet one way or another!!

I actually like being left the pitcher of water to pour for ourselves. I hate it when I have to wait for a water refill, especially if that's my only drink, and we tend to go through a lot of water during a meal. The ideal is certainly to have enough wait staff to keep drinks filled, but I look at it as part of the trade-off for a lower cruise fare and I'd rather pour my own than have an empty glass for 10 minutes waiting for someone to be able to fill it.

I never spent any time on the Serenity deck, but from what I could see and hear from the aft lido deck, it was anything but serene!! I only ate at the Mongolian once and it was good, but the cook that got my bowl was seriously stingy with the meat!!

I didn't play any table games, but even just observing there was a definite difference in the way the dealers interacted with the players. Some were obviously enjoying the game and players, others were just there. We didn't really notice anything great or bad about the wait staff we had. They did their jobs and nothing particularly bothered or wowed us. It did take forever for my husband to get his soda served in the dining room.

It's always interesting how different people notice different things. I was really wishing I could wipe down the outside of our cabin window but there could have been a huge coffee stain on our carpet and I would have never noticed it. Of course, not much carpet is even visible in a regular cabin!!

I'm confused. You said your cabin steward was great, but everything you complained about your cabin was his responsibility.
