Excursion question

In Cozumel I would rent a vehicle and drive to the opposite side of the island. It only takes about 30 min and the traffic is non-existent and it's not like driving in the rest of MX. Very easy and safe as long as you aren't on a scooter. The beaches on the other side are beautiful creamy sand beaches and are empty. There are a few places along that coast that offer drinks, food, restrooms, hammocks, etc. All are nice, safe and loads of fun!

The undertow can be bad in a few spots but there are protected areas too.

The drive along the shore alone is worth it. It's simply stunning over there!

Enjoy!!!

Sorry, can't help with the other ports.

If you go to the Caribbean side of Cozumel which is indeed lovely and empty, be aware that the ocean can be very rough( no lifeguards if you plan on swimming:eek:) and there are also many areas that are closed off to people because there are turtle nesting grounds. You can get a guide and car at the pier and have them take you around the island. Stop at the place where there are crocodiles and climb the tower to observe them. Go around to the lighthouse, climb to the top for the best view ever! It is the highest spot on the island.

Roatan... just off the ship is Mahogany Bay and a nice shopping area. You can walk or take a short ride to the swimming area. There are loungers, drinks , and food available but I think you will pay as Carnival runs this area. There are other places around the island to snorkel or hang out on the beach too but this one is nice and close.

Belize.. Cave tubing, seeing ruins , or snorkeling are all offered by Carnival but search online and you can find similar excursions for less.

Be aware that for all these ports, if you take a DYI tour , you'd better be back to the ship on time. They will not wait.

In Roatan we had a beach day at Bananarama. I booked directly through their website. Their driver picked us up at the pier, drove us to their beach. We had beach loungers, some drinks included (their bar is beachside and drinks/soft drinks were inexpensive), and one of the best beach days ever. The water was gorgeous. There was a float that the kids could swim out to. When we were done for the day we just let them know an a driver returned us to the pier. Would go back in a heartbeat.
