I've stayed at the Sheraton many times while in New Orleans on business. It is very convenient to the French Quarter. Bourbon St. is about 3 blocks north of the hotel, an easy walk....and an easy stagger when you want to go back to the hotel :D It's almost impossible to recommend ONE restaurant in New Orleans. There are so many good ones, and it all depends on your taste and your pocketbook. Mr. B's Bistro on Royal has *amazing* BBQ shrimp...messy and so good!! K Paul's Louisiana Kitchen is great. Want some down-home Cajun cooking with live Cajun music? Mulate's on Convention Center Blvd. is the place. Just stay away from the restaurants on Bourbon St (over priced, and not worth it) and from the chains like Bubba Gumps. No reason to eat at a chain restaurant when you're in New Orleans! CarribbeanTina271 Posted June 11, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Thank you so much for your reply. Mr B's Bistro sounds right up our alley. We won't be getting in till the late afternoon, so not a lot of time to kill. BBQ shrimp, makes my mouth water just thinking about it!! Thanks again!! Lynda59 Posted June 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Sheraton is in a good spot. For restaurant info try a local food critic's website: http://www.nomenu.com. For local flavor, try Mandina's on Canal St. (on the Canal St. streetcar line). Go early or make a reservation since it will be very busy on a Friday night. It is casual dress and reasonable prices.
