Are there Irons on the CB? Leaving tomorrow and want to know if I need to buy one.

That's all well and good and I have no doubt that many cabin stewards turn a blind eye to such violations (after all they may not want to jeopardize their tips) but they don't make policy for the cruiseline.

 

The suggestion was that irons will be confiscated. That is simply not the case.

 

(Nevermind that Princess doesn't have a policy against having an iron in your stateroom any more than they have a policy that you can't bring golf clubs or salad forks into the stateroom.)

As I checked in for the Carnival Destiny last September I noticed lots of irons in a basket. Apparently they had been confiscated from luggage as people boarded. My SIL managed to get on with her iron in her luggage collected at the airport along with a curling iron, blow dryer, flat iron etc.

 

No basket of irons as I boarded the Golden in May though. It's probably a Princess suggestion not a hard and fast rule.

Maybe you should refer again to the language in their printed materials which was cited in previous posts which lists irons, firearms, flammable materials etc. as not being permitted to be brought on board. Of course, since their policy says they shouldn't be brought on board, they might foolishly have thought that they didn't need a policy against having them in your stateroom. Silly Princess. ;)

My apologies for not checking in daily...didn't know what a can of worms I opened regrading irons. I promise I will not bring an iron on board and I thank all those people who presented the "written rules", although it seems that many others are now into interpreting them. Thus to some it is still not clear as to whether or not they are definitely prohibitied, or they may be prohibited. clear ;)

Yea, yea, that's all true, and that's people for you!!

 

People will rationalize what they feel they need to........ Those who want to bring an iron WILL. Nothing is going to stop them, not rules, not issues of passenger safety, nothing -- and they will rationalize it as much as necessary to support and justify their “needs”.

 

Same can be said for the arguments people make for dressing "down" on formal nights, smuggling alcohol onboard, reimbursement for an event/incident they didn’t bother to buy insurance for, etc.

 

Remember, the two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity.
