Going from Koper, Slovenia To Venice, Italy

Our upcoming ruise stops in Koper, Slovenia prior to Venice but since my fiance and I didn't see anything we want to do in Kiper, I was thinking of going to Venice a day early, getting a hotel and meeting up with the cruise ship when it arrives.

 

Has anyone done this? If so, what is the easiest/cheapest way to get from Koper to Venice?

not so sure that the cruise line will letyou do this. Koper was actually very nice old town. We took a city bus (about 40 minutes)to Piran which was a also avery nice small seaside village. you could swim there also.
