ILCruzr Posted June 20, 2014 Author #101 Share Posted June 20, 2014 IF you don't take a cruise, ie: pay for one...you can't utilize those perks, can you? If you are platinum they don't just send you the cup, or whatever the gift is now, you have to pay for and take a cruise to get it. IF you don't pay to reach the level that those perks pertain you, you can not utilize them. They don't just give them out for the most part, you need to pay for and take cruises to access them. There might be some hidden ones I don't know about.... You can see them one way, and that's cool. But I don't think you earn platinum status, you buy your way to it. I don't think you earn these perks, you buy your way to them. Either way, I'm not impressed with CCL's so far, so I'll see what RCL has to offer Yep I'm paying to get perks. Xina143 Posted June 20, 2014 #102 Share Posted June 20, 2014 Yep I'm paying to get perks. It's the point I thought you said you weren't? If you pay for a cruise to get the little perks they offer... Well we do things very differently. I don't need to spend a couple if thousand to get a coupon for a free drink, or to get 25 % off a bag of laundry. I cruise because I enjoy it. iF you cruise for perks, I think you are going to be disappointed at some point with Every line Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Xina143 Posted June 20, 2014 #104 Share Posted June 20, 2014 Yes, I am paying essentially. But I want to pay for something that I would get something out of. I still don't think you understand my original point. To be clear, your original point isn't that difficult to understand. You don't feel appreciated by Carnival cause they don't give you enough. You pay for cruises and you think they should appreciate you by offering better Perks. Doesn't take a genius to figure out what you are saying. Understand though you are getting what you pay for-a cruise. Any of these lines can restructure their loyalty programs, heck they can get rid of them all together. So if you expect cool perks eventually you will be disappointed in any line as it would be silly to assume these programs will never change. I do agree that Carnival could do more to encourage customer loyalty, BUT I get what I want when I book with them-a fun cruise. I get your point, I think we all do, what I don't think you are seeing is all of those perks-none are guaranteed. And any perk you get on any line ultimately you should be concerned with what you pay for-the cruise, not the drjnk coupons and little pins. Being hurt because you don't get something that a line doesn't have to provide in the first place is sorta silly. So to reiterate-I get what you want..I just don't agree with your reasoning Sent from my iPhone using Forums

A6cruiser Posted June 21, 2014 #106 Share Posted June 21, 2014 We have sailed NCL, DCL, RCCL and in 15 days we will be sailing CCL for the first time. We have not decided to be loyal to one line or another yet and may never. We really like Disney but they are priced so high that we can't do a Disney cruise too often. After this Carnival cruise we have several Royal Cruises planned with family and friends that prefer Royal so we are going with it and looking forward to exploring the shops and enjoying the different itineraries! I really want to go to the more exotic locations CCL doesn't offer on a constant basis. BTW very jealous of all your cruises planned! I wish I can cruise that much :)
squakittymaus Posted June 21, 2014 #108 Share Posted June 21, 2014 Thanks for the info! I signed up to get Casino offers , but no luck for me. But again, I can't stay loyal to Carnival in the hopes I'll get one . If I find what I want, of course I'll book with Carnival, but I found a great deal on RCCL so we are going to try that. ILCruzr Posted June 23, 2014 Author #109 Share Posted June 23, 2014 How do you sign up for casino offers? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app I think you have to play a lot to win stuff! but on the last couple ships I was on, there are those game machines where you stick a key into a hole and it unlocks a free cruise. That was some good entertainment watching people fail on that lol
mrBit Posted June 23, 2014 #110 Share Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) OP it is always nice to try new cruise lines. We are loyal to Carnival because it really is "FUN" maybe my age or the little party kid in me at almost 40. We have also sailed Royal and had a great time but it was not the "party feel" but then again Royal had its own appeal. We had always wanted to try Royal but back in 2006 & 2007, Royal did not have as "advanced" kids camp in taking little ones which we needed and Carnival was up to the challenge, that has changed since then. My kids love waterslides but i really like the Florider... lol I have two little ones that cannot ride the Florider because of height restrictions but after our Carnival Dream cruise this summer, next year we hope to go on Liberty OTS with the Dreamworks experience, they want to try that... although I would like to try the Oasis class. For 2016, we want to try NCL and see what they are like. There is such a thing as loyalty while trying something new every now and then :) Edited June 23, 2014 by mrBit
BenjiRodney Posted June 23, 2014 #111 Share Posted June 23, 2014 Enjoy, I for one just got back from Bermuda on Royal. Loved Bermuda, hated Royal. After 2 Royal Wowless adventures, I will not be taking another anytime soon. I am sticking to Carnival.
kamari Posted June 23, 2014 #112 Share Posted June 23, 2014 I don't know why ppl get frustrated when you state your opinion. I have sailed on Royal (I'm diamond plus), Carnival (Platinum) Norwegian (3 times), Princess (twice) and Celebrity (once hated it). Those who have never sailed on Royal wouldn't begin to understand what members mean by the royal treatment. As a diamond plus crown and anchor member you are treated very well from the moment you step on the ship. You receive a booklet full of free offers including casino match play coupons, discounts on balconies, free photos, welcome back party, each night of your cruise a 3 hour cocktail party offering wine, beer, mixed drinks of your choice as well as food. There are even nice perks of Gold and Platinum members. My husband made diamond status on our last cruise which was on the Freedom of the Seas last Sept. We paid $600.00 for a 7 night cruise. I understand exactly why loyal carnival cruisers are upset and the free cruises are not random. I have family members 11 to be exact who were offered the free cabins. Some have received this offer 3 times already this year. Why should I pay a dime for to Carnival when it's the loyal cruisers who in part helped have help Carnival stay in business. . These free cabin offers includes 7 and 8 nights cruises on the Breeze and Dream. I’m speechless. To make matters worse people are receiving not 1 but 2 and 3 free cruises. That's a mess !!!! Some of us can't even score 1 cruise and oh yea I am livid !!! Consequently I cancelled by Sept cruise on the Carnival Freedom and my November cruise on the Fantasy because Carnival has proved to me that I am not a valued customer. They don’t need my money if they can afford to give away thousands of free cruises throughout the year. Also with all the cuts backs they have implemented is it logical to give away thousands of free cruises. Also don’t believe everything you hear these cruises are offered during peak season as well. My sister searched several sailings during the months of July and August and each of them had the free interior room offer which only requires her to pay govt. fees and taxes only. I will take my hard earned money) and patronize a cruise line that appreciates my business.

My parents have friends who are married, with different last names but live in the same house...they BOTH got free cruises. Then there are people like myself and my parents who spend thousands on their line (did three CCL cruises last year alone!) and we don't get valued as loyal members. MY parents sailed only ONE RCL cruise and when they booked their next RCL cruise they received 25% off their next one. What a great perk to want people to come back! In a way I kinda wish I can cancel CCL and go to RCL from San JUan, but I really want to sail the valor and go to those ports. But I think after the Valor, I will be sailing other lines. Celebrity is on my mind right now...

My parents sailed it and said it was awful. they called it a floating casino. The freedom just got upgraded with seuss at sea. If you have little ones, that might be fun. But I am excited about RCL because I hear the Freedom class ships are awesome. I cant wait to try the flowrider and ice skate. It will be such a fun cruise! Ive got 20 days on the Epic. The Casino was good. Im up:p The food in the MDR is not as good as Carnival but the Buffet is the best we have experienced on 6 cruise lines. The seafood Cioppino is almost as good as what we experience in San Francisco Breakfast room service we ordered eggs benedict and other hot items The options for dining is what all cruiselines are aspiring too The entertainment is better than Carnival. The Loyalty perks are better than CCL as well Edited June 24, 2014 by jonbgd
thistimeplease Posted June 25, 2014 #116 Share Posted June 25, 2014 The OP cruises because she enjoys cruising but has now made a decision to give her business to someone else. It will be fun to experience the differences and perhaps she will stay with RCL after her cruise. I love to compare cruise lines and then I let the itinary and price determine what line I will cruise. Have a great cruise.
