Recommended Posts

awesome review. my wife and i are taking our very first cruise on EOS next week, leaving on July 4th. this is priceless information for novices like us!!!

How exciting! I'm dying to get back out there, but my boss is giving me a hard time about cruising every other month. No idea what his problem is! :p

I hope you have a great time and be sure to check out my other review on Enchantment from January.

just finished reading it :) i think we're all set. trying to figure out if the drink package is worth it - seems like i'd be putting the hurt on my liver to make it worthwhile. looking forward to it!

Wow, when I first started traveling to Nassau, Junkanoo Beach was for the locals, no services at all except for food prepared for local tastes... only a few hardy cruisers would enjoy this strip of beach with no services, loungers, vendors, etc. Most tourists would head for developed areas like Cable Beach or Atlantis. We'd put down a towel, take a dip in the water and enjoy the view of the ships in the harbor.

Little by little more tourist-oriented vendors arrived, first with some broken-down chairs, then more familiar foods and drinks, then hair braiders and trinket sellers, then beach massage tables and tents... and from what I see of your photo, it is now a fully-developed tourist service area with cushioned chairs, full-service bars, even wifi!?!? Sigh. I guess we'll have to go a bit farther afield to see how the folks live in Nassau.

Have you walked (or taken the bus) farther down the beach to the fish fry? It's more fun if you're on a late night stop (or land trip) when they also have live music and dancing, but they have great food and drinks, served out of individual brightly colored huts... best conch salad I've had, prepared fresh in front of me from live conch gathered from the water, seasoned with sour orange juice, onions, hot peppers to taste... yum... I'm not a drinker but I hear great things about the drinks prepared at these locations too...

DO you remember the name of the place where you got the fresh conch salad? Or can it be found anywhere at Fish Frey? We have searched all over the Caribbean for fresh conch and have yet to find it. Only fried, greasy conch fritters that have more breading than conch.

We go to Potter's Cay for fresh conch salad.

This review has been so helpful. We are cruising in October, my 2nd cruise, his first, and I am so excited! We have purchased the drink packages thanks to other helpful reviews! I've read so many so-so reviews from people about EOS and I'm really glad to hear a positive one finally!

From what I can tell, Cococay is awesome and the only thing we have planned there is a parasailing excursion, and a whole lot of beach time. But I'm having trouble deciding what to do in Nassau. I don't think any of the Atlantis excursions would be worth it for us. No kids, not really wanting to explore the place. Our main goal is just relaxing on a beach. I've read some reviews where people have gotten days passes at other hotels for a reasonable price, so I'm wondering if that would be worth it? Push comes to shove, we stay on the ship where we can have all the food and drinks we want. I guess my question is, is Nassau worth getting off the ship for??

So I didn't mention I was not assigned a table for the MDR. This has never happened to me before but it was due to booking on such short notice. They were able to get us a table for two right by the window, without any problem.

Okay it's time for some food porn!

I order the filet of beef and asked for it "Raw" and indeed it was! So yummy my friends.

Your review and photos are great! The meat looks perfectly cooked - just the way I like it.

Try resortforaday dot com. British Grand Colonial Hilton all inclusive day pass. Walk to it from ship. I heard it was good.

I would also recommend trying conch salad at Casablanca. Next to Sr Frogs

You know I had this same thought about Nassau, because I have been there 10+ times and already a few this year. I did however get off for 2-3 hours to lay on the Junkanno beach (free) then went back to the pool where the drinks were included in the package. To be honest I actually enjoyed a few hours without a drink! :)

To answer your question you can eat/drink on the ship while she is docked in Nassau.

Thanks for the kind words about the review and I hope you have a great time. I'm trying to find a deal to get back out there myself!

Ok thanks, I'll definitely check that out! I've never had conch before (I do live in oklahoma, our version of seafood is catfish and sand bass lol)

Yea we took advantage of the bogoho sale and saved enough to afford the good drink packages, I'm so glad I came across that deal.

And thanks for your tips about Nassau. I feel good about venturing out now. I'm still a little sketchy on a free beach...scared of getting our stuff jacked lol. And I can't remember but do they suggest you take your passport with you or leave it on the ship?

I've been there a lot and never had a problem, even many times solo which is the worst if you want to visit the bathroom or bar. I just never take my eyes of my stuff the whole time I step away.

You will need some type of photo ID, either of DL or Passport.

Awesome review! I've booked a surprise birthday cruise for my husband in September on the Enchantment and your info has been great! Can you tell me if both or either pools have stairs that walk down into the water or only ladders? Thanks again for sharing!

After breakfast I wanted to relax in the solarium for a bit and it was so quite and peaceful. I could have sat here all day and read, but with out 72 hours on a cruise gotta make everyone count!

The EOS has six hot tubs that I can think of, two in here and four by the main pool.

Hello,

Do you know when Desmond gets back from vacation?

Thanks

I should have asked but I didn't. I do know he has been on holiday for a month now, so he should be returning late July/Early August.

All of the pools have ladders, but you can see from the pictures the hot tubs have stairs leading up to them.

I hope you have a great cruise! :D

my wife and i sailed on enchantment this past weekend. our first cruise ever.

i don't even know where to begin. we had an amazing time. it was incredibly relaxing and we really loved the entire experience.

some highlights:

-ran into a guy with the same first name as me who lives about 2 blocks from me here in Georgia. his buddy got married on the boat - boom, instant friends with quite a few folks who live on our side of Atlanta.

-had dinner the first night seated with some expert level cruisers. i think it was their 20th cruise or something.. they were super friendly and were a wealth of information!

-the crew was amazing - very helpful, friendly, and talkative. we definitely had some favorites and dropped some good tips on them throughout the cruise.

-we didn't even get off the boat in nassau. why go out there and spend money on food and booze when we had all we wanted on the boat?

-premium drink package = win. we absolutely got our money's worth and were able to try plenty of cocktails we had never had before. i must say, however, being on the short side of my 30s, i haven't partied that hard in a long, long time. whew.

-food in the windjammer was a B+. better than i expected. food in the MDR was a solid A - very good each night.

-the ship's entertainment was great.

we only encountered one issue - when we first got to our cabin on friday the heater was stuck on. i called maintenance and by the time we came back from having a drink it was fixed. guest relations called us 3 times while onboard to make sure everything was working fine, and they even applied a small credit to our account to make up for it.

the only think that SUCKED about the cruise was getting off the boat at 7:15 after having stayed up until almost 5 partying. we ended up sleeping in our car in the parking lot for about 3 hours before we drove home!!!

i found this review indispensable in planning our cruise. i felt like i had been on the boat before and we were easily able to maximize our time onboard.
