Cheers Drink Pass...yay or nay???

Recommended Posts

I know I have posted this on other threads - but I do wish Carnival would offer a smaller package - like 7 or 8 drinks. Or maybe 2 in a cabin can share. I don't see how that would be difficult - you just split the package between the two sail and sign cards. Just a thought:D

We are going to purchase the cheers package on our cruise in Oct. I have searched high and low and haven't found the answer to my question. With the bottomless bubbles, you can purchase the carnival mug at 1/2 price. Does anyone know if the same is true with the cheers program since it includes bottomless bubbles?

We plan to purchase the Cheers Program on our next cruise. I am not a big drinker, but I do have several throughout the day. Frozen drinks are my favorite and usually higher priced. As someone pointed out, six cocktails have you breaking even, so to me, it just makes sense-- especially since my DH will easily get his 15 in :D

IMO Carnival really needs to include bottled water in this program. The other lines offering similar programs do. Since Carnival doesn't, it's not worth it to me.

I certainly agree with you!!

Celebrity includes Specialty coffee which is even sweeter!

Just saw this menu you posted. Looks like the Paradise was getting more for the beers there, than is showing on that menu . Is that menu before they started with the 16oz size in some of the brands?

I'm pretty sure this is the OLD prices listed. I was just on the Imagination & they seemed higher than the prices listed on this menu. Go to zydecocruiser dot com it has the current prices & menus on there. I believe the current one is the 1st one listed on the bar menu.

Does anyone know if this is the same on all ships or did we just get a nice guy that signed us up? Last year on he Paradise myself and hubby got the Cheers program and we were told NOT to get the bottomless bubbles for our 2 kids and just get them soda. They even gave then their own stickers for their cards so they could go themselves. We are on the Fascination next month and was wondering. Thanks

I spent maybe 20 to 25 a day to on drinks during sea days. It wouldn't of paid for me to have it.

10 to 15 drinks a day for me is A LOT these days. 10 years ago that would of been a start to a good day.

It's not easy to drink on a cruise with the kids. I owe it to them to be sober and able to give them the best care possible. If me and my wife went alone on a cruise. I might be a little more apt to drink my fill.

I've been on the fence with this package as well.. especially after being spoiled on Celebrity where there's is unlimited drinks.

The cheers package is definitely in the favor of Carnival. If you have 3 port days back to back your not getting back on the ship to have 10 alcohol drinks till 4am just to be up at 7am for the next port.. So there making a good profit right there.

I also don't agree with the 15 drink limit and you can't buy more afterwards. Everyone is different when it comes to knowing there limit. I would be highly upset if it was 10pm and they won't serve me another drink lol.

The limit is obviously there "for cost" and not due to someone knowing when they had enough.

I think they should have a limit based on if it's beer or hard liquor.. Or even better they should come out just with a beer package for those that just drink beer.

If you think about it I am sure that many just drink budwater... Budlight or Budweiser which are only 4 and 5% alcohol. It's vacation people drink more...noon to 6pm someone drinks 10 budwaters.. 1.67 beers an hour.... With all the fun in the sun, sweating out the drinks, snacking on things, doing activities, warm beer that you exchange for a new one.... your not going to be intoxicated especially on budwater.

By the time you get ready for dinner, eat, etc at 9pm your completely sober...

Now what? Your stuck with only 5 drinks the rest of the night for shows, casino, disco?

I can understand if your not a beer drinker and into hard liquor with a much stronger content but a fun day at sea on budwater does not seem like so much fun if your sober at 1am and won't get served another drink.

I guess the smart way to figure out if the cheers package is right for you or not is to calculate what you will be drinking on port days. That is where Carnival makes the money!

Sea days sure it's worth it (wish you could buy this package in 24 hour slots)

But the night before a port day and on port days your consumption is going to be much less.

Cheers package for 3 days is what? Like $171 per person... Will you drink $171 worth of liquor on 3 port days when you have from 8am to 8pm off the boat in wtv port?

Which itinerary has 3 days with 12 hours ashore each day?

It was only an example... but take the Glory for instance on Sept 13 out of Miami.

4 days straight of ports 9 hours, 9 hours, 10 hours and 8 hours with 2 fun days at seas.

I don't see how the cheers package would be worth it on that cruise.

I think it is a great way to budget for drinks....we used to always buy the drink coupons...they were great! Last cruise, we bought booze cash,,,it was not really as good for us cos it didn't let you apply this money just toward drinks...which is what we thought. It just ended up being OBC... next time it will be Cheers for us.....no surprises!:rolleyes::rolleyes:
