jrm116 Posted June 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2014 Is there a metro train that goes to the terminal? Or is it best to take a taxi? We will stay fairly close to the terminal but don't want to walk the streets carrying all of our luggage
johnql Posted June 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) Not really. The closest subway stop is 50th St/8th Ave, which is probably about 1/3 mile walk to the pier. You could try a bus but, to me, doing so with bags is a bit of a hassle. If you're staying relatively close, the cab ride will be fairly inexpensive. I would go with the cab. Here's a link to the cruise terminal's web site for directions: http://www.nycruise.com/manhattan-terminal/directions/ Edited June 29, 2014 by johnql

vatravels Posted June 30, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2014 The M50 bus goes pretty close to the pier (we did that last time). However, it would wholly depend on how much luggage you have.
TravelJoe Posted June 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 30, 2014 The hotel I am looking at is actually right near that station... but yeah, we'll get a cab Taxi is the way to go. It's closer to around 3/4 of a mile given the avenues -- not fun lugging bags behind you if you walk it, and if the bus is crowded, the bags could be an issue. Cab fare should be less than $10 for the trip, but that depends also on traffic. Bus would be $2.50/person, so not much of a difference.
