SC_Floaters Posted July 3, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2014 My wife & I stayed at the Best Western Hotel Bologna, Mestre, VE, Italy for 3 Nights in November 2012... Booked a Double Look Room (WiFi & Breakfast Buffet) at $115 a night. We enjoyed our stay... It is right accross the street from the Train into Venice. Cshgrand Posted July 3, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 3, 2014 We just stayed in the Hilton Garden Inn in Mestre. Bus from Venice stops directly outside and it was very good value. Breakfast was a bit ropey though so we took the bus back into Venice.
Cruising89143 Posted July 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) Last summer we stayed two nights at Hotel Papadopoli. http://www.mgallery.com/gb/hotel-1313-hotel-papadopoli-venezia-mgallery-collection/index.shtml Great location. Only one bridge to cross from Piazzale Roma which is very important when pulling luggage. Edited July 3, 2014 by cruisingator2
loubetti Posted July 3, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 3, 2014 While I have never flown in the day before a cruise and stayed at an hotel, and always made the ship, even with Euro cruises... You only live once! Venice = Gritti Palace Hotel, five stars and $$$$! You're spending enough on the cruise and airfare, so try out what the best Italy has to offer! Desertbelle Posted July 3, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 3, 2014 Several years ago we stayed 2 nights at the Locanda Orseolo! It was fabulous!! Wasn't cheap but oh so worth every penny!
2specialkidsforme Posted July 3, 2014 #10 Share Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) And loved it!!! Now returning in October and Dh and I will stay there. Staff were excellent, rooms super clean, very beautiful garden area to sit outside and a very delicious breakfast as well !! Right around the corner is a very good gelato place - we took back and ate it in the garden each night. cruiser87654321 Posted July 3, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 3, 2014 It depends on budget and whether you want to be close to the terminal. If you want to be close; Hotel Olympia, Hotel Santa Chiara, Hotel Abbazia, for budget Al Malcanton. For really nice hotels but further away from the terminal so you will require transport to get there: Hotel American Dinesen, Hotel Columbina, Danielli, in fact loads of them if transfer to the port by water taxi is not an issue. Johnkut Posted July 3, 2014 #12 Share Posted July 3, 2014 I also vote for the Hotel Olimpia. Right next to Piazza Romale. Not far to carry your luggage.
