Cheryl H Posted July 20, 2014 #26 Share Posted July 20, 2014 Wow, thank you so much for all the information. I'm going to write all that down. Can't wait until our visit to Vancouver.
Daisyloo Posted July 21, 2014 #27 Share Posted July 21, 2014 We just returned from our Alaskan cruise a few days ago. We spent one night pre-cruise at The Pan Pacific Hotel. I would recommend it for a pre-cruise stay. It was very clean and the beds super comfortable. The food in the 5 Sails restaurant in the hotel complex was outstanding. The breakfast in the hotel's more casual restaurant was very good. Service was good and staff helpful. The best part of the hotel is it's location. The ships dock right at the hotel. You literally just take an elevator down from the hotel and you are at the pier. The hotel transferred our luggage to the ship - couldn't have been any easier. The hotel and restaurants are not cheap but we felt it was worth it for the added convenience.

Rare martincath Posted July 26, 2014 #29 Share Posted July 26, 2014 How far is the Pan Pacific hotel from the airport? The short answer: a little under ten miles. The more useful answer - here's a map. Click the little icon of a bus to see transit options. Zoom in on the Pan Pacific end for a closer look at the downtown core, where almost all of the hotels are clustered. This makes Vancouver one of the most ideal cities for booking 'sight unseen' on Hotwire/Priceline etc. as you won't end up with a nasty surprise - as long as don't confuse the West End (part of downtown near the park) with West Vancouver (a separate municipality across the water to the north)!
