TomTN Posted July 13, 2014 #26 Share Posted July 13, 2014 We just did our 1st cruise on Celebrity Silhouette after sailing RCCL since 1991! We sailed Oasis in 2013. Celebrity was a bit quieter. My DH went in the casino for the 1st time! He usually avoids because he doesn't like smoke. The martini and molecular bars were wonderful. The ship was quieter EXCEPT when we went into Venice , then the loud opera music was inappropriate as we sailed into Venice-forced and fake....stop it! We thought Celebrity fit where we were in life.. Either is a great ship. No rock wall, but there is cooking on a grill at Lawn Grill. We booked again with Celebrity. Karen Are you smokers? X might not be for you.
Centenar Posted July 13, 2014 #27 Share Posted July 13, 2014 We have sailed a number of RC ships but really do prefer Celebrity hands down. The Solstice class shops are stunning, service is always top notch and we have never had a complaint! Make sure you join Captains Club! Happy Sailing! :)

boingy300 Posted July 13, 2014 #30 Share Posted July 13, 2014 It was so loud we couldn't talk to each other, standing next to each other (and I don't care for opera. Sounded like a woman was being hurt) I felt like we were competing to speak to each other with the speakers. Maybe if it was quieter or even classical music? I am hoping they don't play it as we sail through the New Zealand Sounds.(Bringing ear plugs just in case now) and hoping on our balcony it won't be as loud. RCI Cruisers 004 Posted July 13, 2014 #31 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Hi everyone! It's my first time posting on the Celebrity board! I am a loyal to royal cruiser since my parents got me addicted many many moons ago. I now have my husband addicted. My husband and I are just off (a week ago, so sad) a Med. cruise on Royal. I'm looking into booking (pending no babies until then) Celebrity's 11 day Med. cruise next summer. However, I have some doubts for some reason. I suppose I am just very set on RC. I am 28, my husband is 31 and we're really just looking for a cruise line similar to RC. I know that RC and Celebrity are the same company, but could someone provide some input on making the jump for this specific itinerary? After looking at their ships and onboard entertainment, I have to admit I am a bit let down. Is there anything out of the ordinary that makes Celebrity more distinct? I have heard fabulous things about Celebrity which is why I am not sure why I am so skeptical about making the jump. Thanks in advance! :) Do it ! We are also very loyal to Royal and always will be, but we are venturing to Disney and Celebrity just to broaden our cruising experience ! Keep monitoring these posts and ask a lot of questions, the people here are very friendly and helpful !
TomTN Posted July 13, 2014 #32 Share Posted July 13, 2014 We are NOT smokers, ergo... He went to the casino. Very pleasant. Karen Oops, Sorry. I understood why DH would go to the casino on X and not other ships. I meant to quote you to point out to the OP that the smoking policy on X is very restrictive. If the OP smokes they might not like X.:)
