Localgirl773 Posted July 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2014 Hello! My family of 7 (including 2 kids (age 6 & 8) and 2 retirees) are traveling to Villefranche is August. Any suggestions for private tours? How long would you suggestion of a tour? Do we need a guide or is a driver enough? Any reccomendations of what to see. And any child friendly activities you would suggest? Thank you so much!:) It's our first time traveling to France with our parents and children...thinking it will be a very different experience. Morgans Posted July 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Do you want to see the area or just stay in Villefranche? If you want to stay put just have a gentle wander through the town, stopping for ice creams/ lunch and then a walk to the beach where the children could have a great time. Villefranche is very relaxing.
Localgirl773 Posted July 13, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Thank you! That sounds like a relaxing day. We have 3 full day tours booked so a relaxing day in Villefranche sounds perfect. Any suggestions on restaurants or a particular beach or activities? Thank you!
Morgans Posted July 14, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Villefranche is a beautiful little town and you will love it. Sorry, I can't remember the names of the restaurants we visited but I know we had some excellent moules marinieres while we were there a couple of times. You can see the beach from the ship - we headed right when we got off the ships tender and walked along the sea front towards the beach. It isn't far. It's slightly stony but not too bad. The children will love it as the water is clean and easy to access. There is an excellent choice of places to eat etc and some lovely gelatarias. Behind the waterfront is the old town which is beautiful - quite a selection of boutique shops. You will have a lovely time here. This is a good website - http://www.francethisway.com. When you submit the name of the town to search make sure you submit Villefranche sur mer (which is part of the alpes maritimes) it brings up some good photos and info. Hope this helps. Amerryscot Posted July 20, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 20, 2014 It depends what you really want to do. If it's a trip to Nice or Monaco, then take the SNCF train. If you want to hang out at a beach, then consider the one in Villefranche, together with the local restaurants.
